I worked in IT. The percentage of paranoid kooks is very high, relative to other professions. Many are libertarians, some are 2nd-Amendment fanatics, some belong to nutty nutritional cults.
When we interviewed potential employees, we tried to people with outstanding technical skills who were still normal people who could work with a team without causing trouble. They were hard to find.
I worked with some real nutcases. I still work with some strange people but no real nuts.
I bet a dollar he destroyed his hard drive. They all do that. I’ve always wondered if they were told to do that by the people who convinced them to do the deed.

In my experience most IT people have no people skills and little patience helping or explaining things to non-technical personnel. They often see their role in purely technical terms and totally detached from the rest of the organization.
Yes, its hard to find good team players.
I agree with your post.
I worked with some genius software engineers who were incapable of normal social interaction.
You always had this vague sense that one morning you were going to listen to the radio on the way to work and hear their name mentioned in conjunction with a bizarre crime.
But they turned out some incredible algorithms and code.
I have horrible technical skills, smell awful, and am impossible to work with.
Where do I send my resume?
Been in IT for 40 years and have never seen any of what you describe. You must have had a really bad pay and benefits package to experience that.
WTF?
So you are saying my wife (nutritional) and I (guns owner) are not "normal"?
It's dimwits like you who have rolled over and welcomed our new rulers...
The "real" fanatics are the fellow travelers like you who have caused most of the problems in this country...
By your definition, you are posting on a "fanatics" forum (FR)...
Go away!
