Sen. Ron Johnson blocks Hawley bill proposing $1,200 stimulus checks
Axois ^ | Dec 18 | Axois

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) on Friday objected to Sen. Josh Hawley's (R-Mo.) motion to pass a bill via unanimous consent that would provide $1,200 to Americans in the form of direct stimulus checks, citing the ballooning national debt.

Why it matters: Hawley has teamed up with an unlikely partner, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), in a push to include direct payments in Congress' next coronavirus relief package, which has entered the final stages of negotiations.

The bill currently being discussed by congressional leaders does include direct payments, but at a size closer to $600 — half of what Sanders and Hawley have said is necessary to support working families. Johnson's concerns about the size of the stimulus package, which at about $900 billion would be one of the largest in U.S. history, are shared by many Senate Republicans.

What they're saying: "We have families in need. There's no doubt about it. I completely support some kind of program targeted for small businesses so they can reemploy, so they can reopen, to restore capital," Johnson said on the Senate floor.

"What I fear we're going to do with this bipartisan package, and what the senator from Missouri is talking about is the same thing — a shotgun approach," he continued.

"We will not have learned the lessons from our very hurried, very rushed, very massive, earlier relief packages. We're just going to do more of the same, another trillion dollars. It takes our debt from $27.4 trillion to $28.4 trillion in a couple months. With doing virtually no revisions, no improvements."

What to watch: Hawley said Sanders will be back in a "matter of hours" to attempt to pass the bill again. Both senators have said they will block an extension to government funding when it expires tonight.

Sorry but sometimes you have to take a principled position

NO on stimulus. It does not work economically and increases the already enormous debt.

I read Trump wanted $2K checks. A fiscal conservative he never was. That being said, the rationale here is that people have been forced into penury through no fault of their own. Also most business owners pay unemployment insurance for their employees but not themselves, a lot of those people are down to nothing.

Exactly.
Control of Congress decided in a matter of a couple weeks and Republicans are pinching pennies.

This is why they’re called the stupid party.

The state closed us down. The one that should bear the burden is at least in my case the state of Texas. Abbot got his little taste of being a tyrant and should be the one feeling that wrath.

Did South dakota shut down with insane restrictions? Nay. Should they bear the burden of the other states in tax dollars? Nay. Just like if texas had stayed open and were now expected to foot the bill for California.

We have all felt the pain of this ridiculous nonsense but I lay the blame squarely where it belongs, on the state’s and the people that live in them. The fed govt surely is responsible for supporting the fear campaign that started this mess however they were not responsible for the actions of the states.

Conservatism 101: if you got your hand out you don’t get it yet.

No more bailouts.

The solution is simple:

Re-elect President Trump.
End the China virus/lockdowns hoax.
Stay out of anti-American trade deals.
Secure the borders.
End federal subsidies to Democrat sanctuary cities.
Stay out of endless wars.
Cut job killing regulations.
Audit and reform the Federal Reserve.
Drain the DC swamp.
Etc., etc., MAGA.

The economy will explode.

Open America's avenue to supporting themselves...Open all businesses large and small!

Put the Dr. Fauci's on notice, if they can't prove the science of lock-down's along with all "the other experts", including Pelosi, Schumer, and the lawless governors, and mayors spreading false narratives, they are actually shouting FIRE to keep Americans frightened.

Enough! Let America get back to work....Senator Johnson, that is your true task....not fighting against freebees/Socialism.....

If the DNI gets o a bunch of Donkocomm senators arrested for treason, then the balance of power shifts. McConnell and Thune could be gone too. Johnson for Majority leader ( especially after yesterday)

never let a good crisis go to waste.....

It's how corrupt congressmen/women funnel tax dollars into their pockets..

They are fighting hard for cash now, trump has given them less opportunity than they've ever had. Their cash flow nolonger covers their lifestyle and obligation. The are being drained.

I wonder if Trump's drain the swap had more than the single phrase we've expected,
Drain The Swamp('s)

- money
- influence
- power
- authority
- image
- liberty
- Life
Pure psychological terrorism of the US Deep State.

Serious, If he completely breaks their control in this country, watch what the EU and UN do next. Then watch China's financial moves. A push should emerge to break the grip of central banks by going digital and having each country maintain their own ledger. This would be a deception. Nothing will change except public perception.

China is trying capture all meaningful means of production. At some point the greed of china and the money masters will fight to dominate one another. (This is good place of a god like figure to intervene) This could potentially lead to a war where armies trample Israel fighting each other. With the money masters expelled from the US, the only playground remaining for them is Europe, Asia, Africa and Russia.

We may see serious currency devaluation, economic chaos and restructuring and a temporarily smaller presence in the world. If God has a role for America in what could come, We would be in such a weakened position that intervention from us would truly be an act of suicidal charity, a sacrifice based in our faith in God. One where we alone have no chance but by the grace of God. Unless, we have resources independent of our economic status.

The one thing Q has proven (though not said) is that you can't always follow the money. We first have to see it in order to follow it. The idea that there is a stealth group of heroes fighting for us seems very plausible, but if we could "follow the money" so could their/our enemies, foreign and domestic.

If a government is paying for it, it's traceable. If our government is paying for it, it's being traced. If there is a covert operation to counter members of congress, the bureaucracy and major industries, many in government would know about it, thus preventing any expectation of success.

-money traceable
-leaks traceable
-resources traceable

When it come to government funded operations, if the project is

- public knowledge, it's for show (keep public calm).
- Classified but On The Books, It's for Government (Maintain control)
- Doesn't exist and nor does its funding, it's for (war)

The only time an operation would be so dark and invisible that their existence and funding cant be tracked, is to prevent The Enemy's ability to track them. For this reason, I have to ask "who was the enemy" whenever a covert operation is revealed. Many times the answer appears to be "The American Public".
