A West Kansas Republican mayor announced in a letter to city officials and on social media on Tuesday that she was resigning, effective immediately, over threats she received after publicly supporting a tenure of mask.
Dodge City Mayor Joyce Warshaw said she was concerned for her safety after facing assaults, including threats by phone and email, after being quoted Friday in a USA Today article supporting the warrant, reported the Dodge City Globe. The city commission voted 4-1 on November 16 to impose a mask mandate, with a few exceptions.
But Warshaw told NBC News on Tuesday that “threats, accusations and actions” against her and her family from members of the community forced her to resign.

« [It was a] very, very difficult decision, difficult to make because I have no regrets about my actions or decisions that I made as mayor, but I think it’s better to move on, ”said Warshaw. In particular, my husband said ‘you’re done, you’ it’s done. Maybe the city can just move on. ”
The city commission said in a statement Tuesday that Warshaw had tendered his resignation in a letter in the morning.
Related “Life has faced many challenges in our world that may have made many people act inappropriately, but I no longer feel safe in this position and I am hopeful that I will let go of this anger, these accusations and abuses will not fall on anyone else and will calm me down. down, ”she said in the letter.
Ford County, where Dodge City is located, has recorded 4,914 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, according to the state’s health department. The county has about 33,600 inhabitants.
Warshaw said that despite the threats, she did not regret voting for the mask mandate and still loved the city.

« [I] I still love Dodge City with all my heart and believe in it, ”she said.
Some of the threatening emails were handed over to the police. Specific details of the threats were not provided.
Dodge City Police Chief Drew Francis said the department was reviewing communications to determine its response.
That’s some awful writing and editing. Millennials, I’ll wager.
What does that mean? This is not literate English.

Yeah.
Her gender switches — “The city commission said in a statement Tuesday that Warshaw had tendered his resignation in a letter in the morning. “
And that opening bit about “supporting a tenure of mask” — what a stupid phrase.
Did she file any police reports on the alleged threats?
If not, bet the alleged threats aren’t why she’s resigning.
I just didn’t want to use an NBC link...
That there is some word salad worthy of Joe Biden on a lucid day.
“Dartunorro Clark is a political reporter for NBC News.”
Dartunorro (!) needs some tutoring.
LOL /8^)
This article is an example of why MSM does so many group project articles these days. Between Karen and Akmel and Shaniqua and Jayden, they might just write something coherent.

Awful article. You really have to read carefully to figure out she ? is a republican who supports a mask mandate and she can’t handle the backlash from the citizens. Good, she should resign. It’s a start.
I’m thinking the FR in the website address stands for France
There are several other options on that site that support your conjecture.
Wondering the same thing. Horrendous use of the English word.
Anyone anywhere supporting “mask tenure” should resign in disgrace.
Same here: Tenure of Mask (WTF?)
I’m thinking...translated from the Queen’s English in a UK newspaper, to Chinese, to Klingon, back to English for the US market. Maybe even a side-trip translation thru India.
The gist of the article...the good guys won at the OK Corral on Dodge City (or bad guys, depending on how you look at it).
The flu pandemic of 1918 started in a World War I temporary Army camp at Fort Riley. Young soldiers, living in close quarters in open bay barracks were the first victims and they died in their thousands. More American soldiers died of flu than in the trenches of France.
The COVID-19 pandemic has played out in a very different way in Kansas. The “hot spots” of infections have been in the urban areas: Kansas City metro area, Wichita, and a few others. The other hot spots have been the meat packing plants where immigrant workers live in overcrowded conditions in houses or apartments. Dodge City, Ford County, has been one of those. Rural Kansas has been spared.
The other key difference with 1918 is that the deaths have been among the elderly. This is a disease of old people and many of the victims have suffered from other comorbidities. Children younger than 17 had not had any deaths, and the 18-22 age groups have less than 1% of the deaths. Young people may catch COVID, but they recover. Kansans understand this and believe that the priority needs to be on the older populations and the immigrants living in close proximity to one another. The Governor and the City Council of Dodge City want to mimic the Governor of New York and Mayor of New York City. That makes no sense to us and aren’t going to put up with it.
We have been let down by politicians and petty bureaucrats who are experts only at their ability to maneuver through the bureaucracy. The Mayor of Dodge City does not deserve the threats that have been thrown at her, but she is truly clueless.
