I was suspicious of Gorsuch because of his origins. For a long time Boulder, CO which is solidly liberal would vote a Republican in as their representative. It was a fake way for them to appear tolerant because the Republican they chose was a known RINO. Then one year the RINO decided not to run but failed to send out the memo. The good citizens of Boulder voted Republican as always and ended up choosing a pro-life conservative math teacher. They were so appalled at their mistake that they’ve voted solid Dem ever since.

Interesting. I didn't know anything about the idealogical makeup of Boulder, CO (aside from being infamous for the Jon Benet Ramsey case).

Like Jim Noble, I suspected Gorsuch was a social liberal because he was raised Catholic and switched to Episocplian in college. Probably 95% of the people who do that do so because they dislike the Catholic Church's positions on issues like abortion and gay marriage.

Even WORSE, there are TWO Episcopalian churches in Boulder, and Gorsuch and his wife attend the FAR more liberal one! Impy and others just shrugged that off and dismissed it with "maybe his wife just liked the stained glass windows at the liberal church better". I seriously doubted that was the case. Gorsuch and his wife happily attend a church every Sunday with an insane far-left SJW female "priestess" pastor who preaches envirowackoism and gun grabbing from the pulpit every week. If FReepers sincerely felt that that had no effect on Gorsuch whatsoever and didn't matter at all about his fitness for SCOTUS, then they owe Barack Obama a sincere apology for attacking him for his association with Trinity UCC and "Rev" Jeremiah Wright.

Some FReepers tried to excuse it with "well, the Catholic Church has a liberal Pope in Rome I don't see YOU leave, blah blah blah", which is totally immaterial and comparing apples to oranges. It's like shrugging off someone happily moving from a small town in Texas to a gay pride neighborhood in San Francisco with "well, you stayed in America when the country elected Obama, didn't you?"
