Trump’s pro-business, pro-job tax cuts created an extraordinary financial boom that caused the wages of blue collar workers to rise more than for any other groups and a great increase in available jobs. It wasn’t the blue collar whites who supported him in 2016 who didn’t vote for Trump this time; it was the affluent, “educated” urban and suburban elites who like to play-act at being socialists.

I have read that the same exit polls that showed scoring gains with blacks and Hispanics also showed him with slight losses among non college educated white men.
