China’s New Stealth Bomber Can't Be as Powerful as It Sounds
Popular Mechanics via Yahoo ^ | December 9th, 2020 | Kyle Mizokami

A report on China’s new, upcoming bomber paints a picture of a big, stealthy plane capable of flying halfway across the Pacific, laden with up to 45 tons of bombs.

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) claims the bomber will make China an intercontinental power, but don’t be surprised if the real plane falls short of its capabilities.

The Xi’an H-20, according to the SCMP, is a large, stealthy bomber under development for China’s People’s Liberation Army Air Force. The bomber would supplement and eventually replace the H-6, a 1950s-era design that China has steadily upgraded over the decades. The H-20, which China announced in 2016, is expected to be revealed sometime in the next year or two.

The H-20 is depicted as having a flying wing design that trades speed for range and stealth. According to SCMP’s mainland sources, the H-20 will have a bomb load of 45 tons, far more than the B-52H Stratofortress’s 35 tons and the B-2 Spirit’s 20 tons.

The SCMP article cites unnamed sources who say the bomber will also have a range of at least 12,000 kilometers, or at 7,456 miles—an impressive range that would put Hawaii within reach of the H-20. It would also put all 50 U.S. states within striking distance if the H-20 took an Arctic flight route. By comparison, the B-52H has an unrefueled combat range of 8,800 miles, while the B-2 has an unrefueled range of 6,904 miles.

The SCMP also cites mainland reports that say the H-20 will be equipped with nuclear weapons, forming one leg of a nuclear triad that also includes nuclear missile submarines and land-based missiles. The bomber will also carry four “stealth or hypersonic” missiles.

China continues to believe their cartoon copies of real weapons systems actually work like they do on Saturday morning cartoons.

5,800 mile range. 10 ton payload. And it's not real stealth.

And underpowered Russian engines.

Like those carrier planes the Chinese use. Very underpowered and cannot carry much ordnance when flown off a carrier.

Biden & co. will help China overcome those weaknesses.

China isn’t intending this to be used against western powers. China intends to use this against third-world countries with precious resources that don’t play nice when China marches in to extract them.

And it’ll work fine against them.

China’s play against the West is naval interdiction in the form of subs and MAD in the form of large multi-warhead ICBMs. In essence, they’re ready to play hard defense against people like us and ready to kick down the doors of any pissant country that has something they want. For China, power projection is exclusively about ensuring the flow of precious resources (primarily rare Earth elements) to help them continue their rise to economic dominance. That’s their vision for how they take over the world: by contract.

They wont win against us militarily. They know it. If they stood a chance, they would have invaded Taiwan by now and they will get their asses kicked.

They’ve been posturing on Taiwan the last 20 years even when obamatard was president and couldnt do it back then..

Biden & co. will help China overcome those weaknesses.

They don’t need the bomber to actually work. They just need their puppet Biden installed. China will then threaten war and Biden will surrender the country.

Words from an internal news source like this newspaper does not make a real capability here. Not saying it is a mirage, just that no one can give a full evaluation without experience.

“They wont win against us militarily. They know it. If they stood a chance, they would have invaded Taiwan by now and they will get their asses kicked.”

Are you sure we would intervene on behalf of Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion? I’m not.

We will intervene. We didnt create battleships, carriers and Pacific military bases and do nothing. Regardless of any president, the military complex runs the country and you threaten it, it will snap back.

I hope you’re right, but I’m not convinced. We have watched while Hong Kong has been effectively absorbed into the PRC. We will defend freedom of the seas, but I don’t think we have the stomach to defend territory over there.
