I learned from Don Boudreaux this morning that Walter Williams died either this morning or last night. For those of you who don’t know, he was a long-time economics professor at George Mason University.
I’ll have more to say later but I want to give one appreciation.
Walter liked smoking and he also hated the TSA. Some years ago, the combination of no-smoking regs on planes and intrusive groping by the TSA caused him to vow never to fly by commercial airline again. When he received offers to give speeches that were far enough away that driving was infeasible, he negotiated for a private airplane to take him there.
He appeared on Rush and was introduced with the words “black by popular demand”....
“Oh no!!!!!
He just wrote another column and it’s printed on its weekly Wednesday slot!

What brave educated black writer am I going to access now?
:*(”
This seems so odd to read now... :-(
I liked him actually better than Rush. Alway looked forward for him to substitute. Great loss. Sorry and prayers for Williams family.
Wiki must have just updated because of 10:45 am, he was still alive.
Thank you for your service to humanity. May your rest be peaceful.
I’m sorry to hear this. Yet another loss for America and for me, too.
You know ... I’m still grateful for every day and still shoveling, too, knowing there must be a pony in here somewhere, but 2020 has just sucked in almost every way I can think of.
At times he did fill in for Rush. He was a powerful conservative voice. Now he and Mrs Williams can enjoy their at odds moments. (That’s a joke, the kind Walter would appreciate since he had such a dry humor.)
Some trolls never learn.
RIP. A terrific Man, economist.
Used to love him subbing for Rush.
His explanations were so logical you couldn’t argue with them.
Wow, what a punch in the gut. I am told that one of my heroes, Dr. Walter Williams, passed away. Walter had an enormous influence on me, from the time I was 13-years old; he was my first guest on Life, Liberty & Levin. I'll discuss more tonight on radio.— Mark R. Wow. So sad a great loss. RIP Walter Williams.
Good for him!
Add another RIP. He’ll be missed greatly.
RIP to a good man. Im sure GOD has him now.
Terrible news. We’ve lost a great one.
He was black, which made him even more a danger to the Rats.
Walter Williams was my favorite substitute host on Rush’s show. He was brilliant and hilarious, especially when he told wife jokes. RIP
RIP, Walter Williams, you were a great American.
Just when we thought 2020 couldn’t get anymore gloomy, we loose Walter Williams. He was not only a Professor of Economics, he was also a Professor of Common Sense and understanding the nature of man. RIP.
RIP to another Great One.
You must have missed the memo from Biden. Remember? If you don't vote for him, "you ain't black!"
