Damn. Before he gained national prominence as a beloved fill-in host for Rush he was an occasional panelist on a local Philly version of Crossfire called 'Issues and Answers'. The format called for three liberals and one token conservative and most of the token conservatives were firmly GOPe hacks. Except for Williams. He shredded the lefties, laughing the whole time. I tuned in every Sunday to see if he was on and if so, I was watching.

RIP, Dr Williams.

I hope some of those shows find their way onto the internet.

As with many, Walter Williams along with Thomas Sowell came into my life via Rush. During one show, Williams mentioned the “Economist” magazine. G. Gordon Liddy also mentioned the magazine, so I bought a copy. Williams also talked of Hayek, so I bought two of his books. That began an amazing journey for me. I returned to school and ended up getting a Masters in Public Administration with a strength in Public Policy. During a 6.5 hour exam, with a stack of books about four feet high next to my desk, I wrote four mini essays. On my desk were three books one by Hayek, Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams. Whenever I became stuck trying to make a point on policy, those three books unstuck me.

I could have easily been voted most likely not to succeed in high school. Not dumb just no common sense. I sent an email to Walter Williams thanking him. Not sure he ever got it or had any idea how he, Rush and Thomas Sowell changed my life.
