The overall population mortality shows the effect of Covid - that is, the raw total of recorded deaths in civil, not medical records.
The CDC has compiled these. Unfortunately in the US this lags medical reporting by up to a month.

Most European countries do the same. As an example, Spain, which has very efficient civil records, does it daily, lagged about 1.5 weeks -

However, the word “WEIGHTED” occurs in the fine print more that a dozen times.
