Seriously doubt the judge was blackmailed. Like any democrat he believes that the end justifies the means. Keeping Flynn quiet was the goal and it worked.

By taking a pardon, Flynn is basically admitting guilt. There is no way an appeal or the SCOTUS would let this stand.
