I’m not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, but I’ve paid a few, and it is my understanding of law that, before you can file suit, you have to be able to prove you’re a “damaged party.” In the context of an election, you cannot be legally considered a damaged party until the election is over, and the election isn’t over until it certified. Now that the election is certified, it’s officially over at the State level, and Trump can now claim that he is a damaged party and proceed to court.
