The Trump campaign on Sunday sought to distance itself from attorney Sidney Powell after she made a series of increasingly convoluted and baseless allegations of widespread nationwide election fraud.
Powell, who also represents former national security adviser Michael Flynn, had appeared with campaign lawyers at press events as recently as last week.
In a brief statement released Sunday afternoon, President Trump's lead attorney Rudy Giuliani and senior legal adviser Jenna Ellis said that Powell "is not a member of the Trump Legal Team."
"She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity," the former New York City mayor added.
Powell appeared alongside Giuliani and other members of the campaign's legal team at a number of press conferences over the past month — including one on Thursday — detailing the campaign's so far unsuccessful efforts to halt or overturn the certification of election results in several key battleground states that were called by media outlets for President-elect Joe Biden.
Trump himself also referred to Powell as a member of his legal team in tweets as recently as Nov. 14.

I have a very hard time believing that Giuliani would throw Powell under the bus because she is loyal to the President and he himself was pursuing something considered “crazy” (Hunter Biden).
Trump said in a twit that she was part of his legal team though (but he never said that Lin Wood was).
So this is what I think: Trump is not only an individual and a candidate for president; he is also the head of the executive branch. He has access to information that could not be used by him as an individual (e.g. the servers). He can order to release it or give access to it in case of trial (in which he could not be involved) or national security according to his 2018 EO, or something like that.
Of course this is pure speculation. I am not a lawyer, and I don’t even know if all that about the servers is true.

Yes. Sidney has said that she is not being paid for her work with the Trump team.
Private people can’t file treason charges.
Here’s how I see it....
Trump is running for president as a 2020 presidential candidate, and his legal team is carrying out litigation under the framework of Trump for the President.
On the other hand, Sidney Powell represents the American Voters in filing a lawsuit against the government and government officials for election fraud.
She operates as a separate law firm, and the case can exclude Trump factors, making it easier to succeed.
Evidence of election fraud in Dominion’s multi-trick system is the use of the military to seize servers. If the lawsuit is carried out under the Trump campaign, it may involve the legality of obtaining evidence. But attorney Powell’s withdrawal from the team of lawyers will help her release the evidence obtained by the government.
Someone said that maybe it has to do with her accusing GOP of being guilty as well and consequently POTUS has no choice but to distance himself from this - at least overtly. Sidney would likely agree with that I bet.

There’s a reason for their timing....and, it likely has to do with keeping the campaing’s civil suits separated from Sidney’s explosive criminal suits, that she is about to file.
She never was paid for by the Trump Campaign and has always been working independently in the legal sense. She has her own defense fund to support her.

Hype, the campaign was just clarifying Powell doesn’t work for the President in his personal capacity.
I thought as recently as 3 days ago people on FR were praising her as one of the most upstanding lawyers and how could she then make unsubstantiated claims that can’t be proven? That would be a rookie mistake and she’s well experienced, so is she losing it or what?
this was NOT a harmless clarification tweet. there was no reason for that. team trump is distancing themselves from her. if this was a mere clarification tweet, the clarification tweet would have needed more clarification — none was forthcoming.
honestly, people have seen this coming for a while now.
Probably in case Dominion wants to sue, they can only sue her.

Or...what’s about to be exposed in Georgia is of such a magnitude that its going to be an explosive mess that implicates some prominent state Republicans. And consider how this might effect the upcoming senate elections. It could be quite a mess that the WH wants distance from.
