Dearest Jim,

Your post brought tears to my eyes when I first read it this morning and now again as I type this. The most comforting thing anyone ever said to me upon the death of my Dad is "Love never dies". This is so true. I have lost many including both parents and many years have passed since then. I feel closer to them now that I did in life.

You and Sheila have been real heroes. Starting FreeRepublic so many years ago. It has been a home for many over the years. The home you created has housed a family, growing and now with old timers and newbies. And like any family we find like minds that help us, petitions to pray, cheer us up and make us laugh. And like any family there are members that annoy us and disruptors. Thankfully they are in the minority.

I look back and cannot imagine who I would be without the knowledge that FreeRepublic has provided.

May you be comforted by the knowledge that your faith will keep you together with your Sheila until you can be together again. God decides the time when He calls us home. It has been a privilege to be able to participate in this forum, especially in this time.

Thank you all very much for your thoughts and prayers and love. It means so much to me. There’s so much I’d like to say about my dear sweet Sheila but the tears keep flowing and I can’t get it written down. I know that she’s now in heaven and that we’ll meet again, but this parting is so painful. Dear God thank you for the 50 years we shared together and for our two boys you gave us. I love her so and always will.

Jim, I only spent a few hours with Sheila and yet I can completely see how much much of a blessing a life with Sheila was. I am in tears for y'all also. You know the entire Freeper contingent from Texas, especially the TCMS regular bunch, loves your family. We all stand there with you in spirit. I will always treasure the few short hours I was blessed to visit with your lovely bride and helpmate. She is a treasure and from the very beginning of our conversation I was assured that she is a sister with whom I will get to fellowship in eternity.

We on earth know that it still hurts like hell for you and the family. By God's grace you have created a family here on Free Republic also who mourn with you. My prayer is that you feel every bit of prayerful love we send. This will not remove the pain but may the shared pain bear you up. In Jesus Name. He has you in His Hands also.

No one can adequately imagine how close a bond a lovingly married man and woman have after the blessing of a long marriage. 50 years of love continues beyond the death of either person, I believe. That love is still alive. And no one can describe the loss of part of oneself. Look forward to Heaven where Sheila is now beyond pain.

It’s such a comfort to know that we will see those loved ones, again, who have gone on before us. But it still hurts to be without them,in the meantime, even though we know they are better off. May the God of all comfort bless and keep you and yours.
