Yep, I used to LOVE going there and it was very safe, certainly in Manhattan. It’s over - it’s now like just about every other US city - the smarter (and better informed) among us simply stay clear.

Are you prepared to handle the cold and the snow? It helps if you are younger. Say younger than 50 and lean and in shape if at that age.
I’ve lived in VT and NH in my twenties. In CO and WY in twenties and thirties. I couldn’t go back to those places at my age with their cold and snow.
I’ve been told that Billings is in a banana belt by people in the company that I worked for years ago who lived there and worked at our mine. They may have been pulling the non-residents’ legs.
