Law professor and outspoken advocate for reparations joins Biden Treasury transition team

Professor Mehrsa Baradaran has applied pressure to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to openly embrace a reparations plan for black Americans

Mehrsa Baradaran, a professor at the University of California at Irvine's School of Law and prominent advocate of reparations for black Americans, has been tapped to join the Biden-Harris transition team.

Baradaran argues that reparations, giving money to black Americans to compensate for slavery, would correct capitalist "white supremacy" in America and close the resulting racial wealth gap.

"A reparations program could take many forms from simple cash payments or baby bonds to more complex schemes such as subsidized college tuition, basic income, housing vouchers, or subsidized mortgage credit," wrote Baradaran in her 2017 book "The Color of Money: Black Banks and the Racial Wealth Gap."

Baradaran has been critical of Democratic presidential and vice-presidential candidates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' non-committal stances on the question of reparations.

"Dear Kamala, Reparations or go home," she tweeted in 2019. Later in the presidential cycle, she wrote, "Biden just dodged that reparations question like a much nimbler and younger man."

Biden and Harris have not be specific about whether they support legislative to move toward reparations.

"When you are talking about the years and years and years of trauma that were experienced because of slavery, because of Jim Crow and because of all that we have seen in terms of institutional and legal discrimination and racism, this is very real and it needs to be studied," said Harris during a 2019 town hall.

Biden similarly did not endorse a specific reparations bill or legislative plan.

Other top Democratic lawmakers, including New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and voting rights organizer and advocate Stacey Abrams, have explicitly backed and advocated for reparations, an idea that has gained some popularity among practitioners of progressive politics over the past several years.

Prior to her going the Biden-Harris transition team, Baradaran assisted 2020 Democratic presidential contenders Sens. Bernie Sanders, of Vermont, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, both progressives, and the more moderate Pete Buttigieg the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, on their policy proposals to address the racial wealth gap in America.

And all they need is 2 stolen Senate seats in Georgia to do it. Thanks to COVID and the impotent Governor Kemp, that is well within their reach.

No reparations. My generation did not own slaves or even live here then.

I think there would be a legal battle if they tried reparations. I am not sure reparations would pass constitutional muster. My entire family arrived from Europe after the Civil War. One grandfather went through Ellis Island as a child. The Other came as an adult. Reparations treat one class of citizen different then another. The question is, could legal representation be found in the current cancel culture.

As long as Roberts is Chief Justice, all liberal desires will be made Constitutional.

They will do what they have to to institute reparations. Once you give you cannot take away. The beginnings of a communist system

Bet on the RATS to take the GA. senate seats. The do nothing GA governor was brought to his knees by Pig Stacey and agreed to all the changes that create fraud and will allow the RATS to do anything they can. Our “tough guy conservative Collins” has already capitulated and is doing nothing to combat the fraud.

Hellsup and Harris’ parents should start
with the reparations FIRST.
The VP candidate is from a slave controlling family.

How many slaves did the Harris’ have.

How many did they kill?

How many did her family rape and eat?

What kind of VP comes from a family of slave owners,
and then demands that OTHERS pay her reparations owed.

Is that typical for Canada and India and Jamaica
from where she comes, lying claiming she was
born in the USA of USA citizens?

Reparations, where non-slaves are paid by those that never owned slaves, will likely be the last straw. This will not set will with the 70+ million Americans that want to save America. There will be a point when enough is enough and those that have been stock piling the tools of resistance will likely do just that.

That’s the intent.

I’ve tried to explain this to blacks, that the Democrats keep wanting to give them privileges and advantages because the Democrats want blacks to be hated.

But too many blacks they are owed and are embracing what Democrats are offereing.

Mehrsa Baradaran should be forced to donate all her savings and 50% of her ongoing income to BLM.

And when she is asked why she should pay, she will state that neither she or her ancestors held slaves. She might even say that her family immigrated after slavery... Then, as she is standing in line at a soup kitchen she can reflect on her privilege, wokeness, structural racism and all that other meaningless crap she accused other blameless people of.

If Biden gets in, it will be worse than Obama. This Mehrsa Baradaran thing is just foreshadowing.

That could be the Lexington and Concord moment.

Biden is not choosing anyone. His “picks” are being chosen for him and Harris, with little whispers in her ears, is getting more advance knowledge of the picks than is Biden. He’s just along for the ride, which won’t last long in his case.

I know Professor Baradaran. You do not want her anywhere near a position of power.
