There is a lot of speculation on tucker Carlson's future with Fox News now that it has lurched over to the far Left. Here is Tucker in his own words.

Fox News has never made any money from me watching Tucker. I download his shows from a third party site without ever going to Fox, plus all of the commercials are edited out so I never get to see who his advertisers are. There are several different ways to do it but here is a quick example from Youtube. These people do a good job of getting his show but it's usually deleted by lunchtime. If you click on this link and get nothing that's what happened. It's never a problem with me because I am 6 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time so I can download it before the censors wake up. This (though maybe you meant “tactically“). I think that he is both very bright and very courageous...and that he’s getting his ducks in a row before moving. He knows that Fox is going downhill, and that no matter how good his hour is, it cannot offset the other 23 hours of crap (and if it even came close, Fox would need to pay him lots more, offsetting that benefit for Fox). He has been doxxed, badly, and knows who and what the other side is - and will go where those on his side will be in the future.
This statement was to take pressure off of him from Fox, nothing more IMHO.
Along with being very well paid, Tucker would go from half a voice to no voice for at least a 6-month noncompete period. By the time that might be up, we could be fully under the new iron curtain that seems to be fully encompassing the world.
On the other hand, we really don’t know if old Tucker might have been controlled opposition all along, especially given his family and background.
Hes no dummy. As much as the morons running Fox hate it, Tucker is hosting their highest rated show. Yes he’s down too, but still the king of the hill. Interesting position to be in.
