We Are All Southerners Now
American Thinker ^ | November 14, 2020 | EM Cadwaladr

When I was growing up in Ohio, the South began at the banks of the Ohio river. Below that muddy line, everyone knew, there lived a different breed of backward and uneducated people with lazy minds and even lazier language skills. You could have contempt for them, a privilege I indulged from time to time. I personally learned this contempt from two main sources.

It’s just the same stupid crap from the same people. This thread had nothing to do with that subject.

Sorry, I've been tied up again.
So let's see where we are...

FLT-bird: "My first post in the thread discussed the cultural differences that have existed between the South and New England literally dating back to their origin in England - ie the early 1600s."

My point was: there are plenty of "cultural differences" among all states & regions of the country, many dating back to our origins in whichever "old country" our ancestors came from.
But in 1860 there were no "cultural differences" except slavery which could drive otherwise patriotic Americans to declare secession and war on the United States.

FLT-bird: "Then OF COURSE you know who just had to come along and say everything was all about slavery slavery slavery......because that one note is all he can play.
Nevermind that it had nothing to do with the thread. "

The thread's article does not ignore the Civil War:

All drama needs bad-guys and every region has its stock characters, be they corrupt businessmen, generals, law enforcement, politicians or religious "fundamentalists".
Bad law enforcement characters are not unique to the South.
Indeed, the heroes of that show -- Bo, Luke & Daisy -- are pretty good exemplars of the Southern can-do spirit & good humor.
And if you truly do need a good Southern sheriff, check out Andy Griffith -- another hugely popular show.

FLT-bird: "Nevermind that it [slavery] had nothing to do with the thread.
Nevermind that it wasn’t a political issue until the 19th century.
To him the South = slavery.
There is no room for any other thought in his head apparently."

The essence of the Lost Cause lie is that slavery was not the most important reason for secession & Civil War.
Something else, anything but slavery, was the "real reason" -- so Lost Causers keep telling us.
In this thread our Lost Cause FRiend FLT-bird gets the opportunity to flog that horse without even mentioning the word "slavery", and then to take offense when the word is introduced.

The article itself ends this way:

I think we can all sympathize with such feelings, without for one moment accepting the Lost Cause lie that slavery was not at the core of reasons for secession and Civil War.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Trump is gonna win this.

Years ago I saw a bit of an interview with Trump's sister who is a Federal Judge in New York, I think. The interviewer asked her if she every got into arguments with Donald when they were growing up.

She replied "I used to, but I quit doing it because he always wins. He always wins. "

I think Trump is going to produce a miracle of overturning this fraudulent election in those swing states. I think Trump will be our President for another four years.

Where we are is you are trying to hijack a thread about the South and how it has often been unfairly mischaracterized by the Yankee MSM to somehow pretend everything is about the object of your obsession - slavery, which was only a political issue in the mid 19th century.

I’m praying he wins. But even the best general can’t win every battle.

FLT-bird: "slavery, which was only a political issue in the mid 19th century."

I see you are obsessed with slavery, just can't stop talking about it, even while criticizing someone else, and you can't stop inserting your own false narrative into the actual historical record.

Slavery must have some control over your mind, FRiend, you might even need therapy for it...
Really, get some help.
Stop lying about it.

;-)

Sad.

Now our FRiend FLT-bird can't say what he's obsessed over today, just obsessed -- can't let it go, can't drop it, can't walk away... obsessed.

Sad.

Just found this on Instapundit. Thought you would find it amusing. It was in response to a message about Texas seceding.

"If they did, you'd see a wave of states follow. Something like this to start with:"

" With Georgia surrounded and taken over by its own people soon after, then NC, followed by the midwest states in red falling next."
