Georgia runoff key dates: Georgians have until December 7 to register to vote

Election Day may be over, but which political party will control the U.S. Senate is still up in the air. In Georgia, voters are on track to vote again in January for its two senators.

Under state law, a senate candidate needs to hit 50% of the vote to avoid a runoff. Neither of the state's Republican senators -- David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler -- reached that cutoff, meaning both contests will likely go to a runoff January 5.

Nevermind. Y’all just told me the GA constitution has this contingency covered. RATSO!

But democrats still have no morals.

I am in the southwestern US. How do I apply for my 57 mail-in ballots? Two can play this game.

“> The Ga state constitution says only those registered to vote in general election can vote in a run off election
As I understand it, yes.”

‘But I believe some Feral Government™ judge struck that part down as unconstitutional for Federal office elections.’

This provision is in the Georgia Code, not the Georgia constitution. Sec. (a)(10) contains the relevant language.

I would be very interested in a citation of that Federal court ruling. Does anyone have that?

That is my reading as well. Someone posted that he/she thought a Federal judge had issued an order eliminating this requirement for Federal elections. I haven’t been able to confirm this.

I stand corrected. The same language also appears in the Georgia Code. The relevant section is (a)(10):

That’s the law, but the illegal consent decree between the SOS and the dems says register until Dec. 7th.

The interesting part is the amount of dis-information about the law coming from main stream media personalities and the usual leftists.

It would be interesting if there has been federal litigation over the law, but it seems to me within the scope of what a state can set as its election laws.

“It would be interesting if there has been federal litigation over the law, ...”

Yes; I have emailed both the GA SoS office and conservative commentator Erick Erickson (who used to be an election lawyer) about this, but I have not received a response from either.

No runoff election until an audit and recount, governor.

Since when does the SoS get to change election law? This is nuts!
