Sky News Australia ^ | November 11 2020 | Paul Murray

Sky News host Paul Murray says there has been another software glitch found in the US where 2,500 votes in Michigan had been moved in favour of Joe Biden.

“Perhaps the most interesting little glitch of the system thus far, is that there is some software that has been used in 30 different states, this is software that had 6,000 votes go from trump, glitch, Biden, identify the glitch, back to Trump.

Also interesting that this “glitch” didn’t make Biden votes change to trump votes.

And unless the reporting is deficient, it is also a nice round number that is not a machine-type error.

I do a little programming in my line of work, and I know that if it was doing these things, they were programmed to do it.

Absolutely, I agree. The software interface had to be so sh@tty and confusing that the county election supervisor had the ability to alter results. In the case of Michigan, it sounds like an honest error. Should never happen..

I agree. I also do some programming at work.
Software does not glitch like they are claiming.
The Main receives an input from the user query and adds a count to the variable.
Trump variable or Biden variable.
It would never switch variables and then go back.

Everyone needs to watch the 2006 movie “Man of the Year” starring Robin Williams. They had a software glitch and a comedian was incorrectly elected President (better option than Biden). They had to do another election and the incumbent Republican won.

What a coincidence!

Every “glitch” goes from Trump to Biden.

Every single one.

Imagine that!

First, we need to differentiate between “voting machines” and “election systems”. Second, with regard to election systems, you as a tech guy will find this well worthwhile:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ficae6x1Q5A

He says his firm has seen the source code. That’s not to say it is open source, watch and see what your translation is. His credibility seems good to me, although I admit to knowing enough to understand the principles but am not a cybersecurity expert.

Ultimately all systems touching a voters ballot need to be blockchain based. It’s the most secure technology we have and if/when something better comes along, we ought to use that instead. Elections should be protected as well as our nuclear codes.

As you will agree, 99.9% of the “public” wouldn’t know a 1 from a 0 and most of those who do are not going to voluntarily do a thorough security analysis of the election system. That’s why I think this needs to be federalized, within the boundaries set by the Constitution. States designated authority to determine the “The Times, Places and Manner” is no different than the Constitutional protection of free speech or the right to bear arms - it does not imply absolute power to do whatever they want to and some reasonable restrictions are possible, and obviously badly needed. Such as: States can select the “manner” as long as it uses the federally-approved software and networks.
