Cutting the Cable News Cord
American Thinker.com ^ | November 8, 2020 | Laura Peterson Lytle

Something happened in my house this week that those who know me will find unbelievable: I cut the remaining cord to cable news. Fox News, the only remaining cable news source I considered somewhat trustworthy, found itself banned from my home with all other cable news.

The app has been deleted, along with all news apps associated with Fox News. An overwhelming peace came in doing so, not unlike the peace that came from deleting my Twitter account in July. The Twitter cesspool is not worth swimming in. Parler is now my go-to social media app, while independent news sources with journalistic integrity are now my go-to for news.

Having worked a significant portion of my life as a news reporter and editor, journalism will always be in my blood. I crave news and information like some crave chocolate. That will likely never change. What will change is where I get that news and information.

While there are many reasons which factored into my decision, the final proverbial straw came when Fox News continued to deny any “credible evidence” of election/voter fraud. Such declarations were often delivered by anchors with a sneer and a smirk. With social media and big tech-monopolies banning and censoring evidence of verifiable election fraud, even Fox News likely feels safe in perpetuating the “nothing to see here” lie. The problem for these censoring overlords and truth-deniers is that election fraud is, in fact, taking place. When dead people somehow rise from the grave to vote, that is election fraud.

“Totally vouch for OANN. Sanity saving.”

Agree. I prefer OAN to Newsmax. (We get both.) Their investigative specials are excellent. We enjoy the “Real America” at 8 or 9 pm. They guy is a little “out there” and hasn’t developed a good filter, so he’ll say some great things.

There are ways to watch Tucker on-line.

I tried to watch FOX Sunday this morning and couldn’t do it... too offensive.

It’ll take time... Remember when we all left CNN for FOX? Decades ago... CNN had better production values, news bureaus all over the world, but FOX was offering both sides... and we ran to FOX.

The people who own FOX would rather be invited to the cool parties than make money (they have more money than they could spend in a lifetime anyhow) so giving the finger to their viewers isn’t a problem for them. White liberal ‘elites’... sooooo tacky.

You Tube is owned by Google, so don’t give them your money.

About a decade ago, we stopped watching any so called news show besides Faux.

We cut our cable 3 years ago last summer to save money and not have any of our money going to ABCNNBCBS and the other liberal money suckers with cable every month.

I stopped watching Faux News when MeAgain tried to destroy candidate Trump before the Iowa caucus. Sometimes we still watched the local Faux News until they went full bore against Trump after he won the electoral vote. So I removed their app on our streaming list.

Our main news source has been FR.

I do check the Fox news online summary. That way I can avoid anything that is purely political and anti America and anti Trump!

Besides saving a ton of money by not being on cable, none of the left wing hate America channels like Disney and the sport nets get a penny from us.

“First time in my life with no cable and I will not miss it.”

Besides, you will be saving well over $100/month and not funding those who hate you and your family 24/7!

“Not watching”

Fox still gets money if you have cable.

To starve the beast, cable needs to be cut.

=============j

Right. Each channel gets a subscription fee. I dont know the numbers for Fox but CNN gets half of its revenue from subscription fees. If you pay for cable tv, you are funding the LEFTIST media.

Cable tv free since 2007. Do not miss it at all.

I’ve saved thousands not paying for cable.

Remember when the monthly cable fee was supposed eliminate the need for commercials? How did that work out?

No news is good news.

My wife, when we cut the cable 3+ years ago made that same statement.

We have been awake this morning and in our family room today since 6 am and it is all most 8 am without our tv being on.

She has her Google sites and I have FR. If we want news.

We get nixle texts from our local police and fire departments if something is happening in our area.

Oakland, gay Frisco, Silly Con Valley, LA, Chicago, NYC and DC can blow themselves up or bury themselves in human fecal matter, and we don't care.

On demand changes everything. You don’t need channels.

Amazing how on demand works for us not the cable thugs.

There were a couple of show so called channels my wife wanted to keep after we cut the cable. One was a female talk show host on ABC, and I think the other was Hallmark.

You had to pay extra and watch them when they wanted you to watch them.

After about a month, she said, “Just cancel them!”

There is zero reason to pay for any media other than one time costs for equipment (over the air antenna, streaming box) and your internet which you would have anyway for other reasons.
