Trump gained nothing by adopting the lefts criticism of incarcerating drug pushers, because pushers do other crimes too.
It was a powerful moment when Trump hammered Biden in the debates about it and tied it in to his 47 years as a politician. It’s isn’t a major issue all things considered. I’m not sure why you making it one.

You can’t say it was a powerful moment and it isn’t a major issue. That’s a contradiction
Trump made a BIG DEAL about letting felons out early. He made a BIG DEAL that Biden had supported a tough on criminals law. That kind of rhetoric by Trump doesn’t help with the blue collar vote and it doesn’t help paint Biden as a scary liberal. Trump was using the arguments of leftists who would never vote for him
And he was insulting middle class blacks by suggesting they want criminals let back out on the streets

He should have won 60% of it. And then the non-white vote would be irrelevant.
Don’t recall the numbers but I believe at 60% or so the non-white vote is overcome. 60% of 65% is a big number in reference to the total population.
But Trump’s a well meaning guy and he really did want to win over everyone and he succumbed to worrying about being called a racist, which is the gimmick that scumball white racists like the ones who run the Democrat party like to run with. Doesn’t matter what he does, they’re gonna call him that.

Although a majority of white men still voted for Trump, the percentage dropped 4% to 58%.
Meanwhile, he gained support from white women (up 3%).
Although other demographics voted majority for Biden, Trump still gained support: black women (up 4%), black men (up 5%), Latino men (up 4%), Latina women (up 3%).
That is, assuming the exit polls are accurate.

Good point. This was Trump and Trump alone. The GOP is still obtuse and clueless. The surge in minority votes won’t translate into the next election unless the gop can come up with another Donald.
