I retired at age 57 because of disgusting health issues giving up my well paid job. Moved from expensive Chicago burbs to a cheaper area in southern WA state and joined a cheap private golf club, Orchard Hills country club in Washougal, WA where I could play unlimited rounds of golf for $250/month flat fee & $3000 to join.
Began walking 3 rounds of 9 holes during the week, and gradually increased it to 5 rounds of 18 every week. That was 30 miles walking every week weather permitting. My hip pains disappeared, panic attacks went away, blood pressure came down, H1C improved, and best of all I had more energy to maintain the house.
At age 75 moved to Florida, no longer member at a golf course, so doing daily treadmill at the community gym for 25-30 minutes. Reaching 100 without pain issues and medications is looking possible if only I do not get lazy about exercise.
What a wonderful success story! Hope you inspire any couch potatoes reading!
That is great to hear. My husband and I have started easy-hiking; we are in our sixties now. Hip pain comes but leaves quicker each time. No plan on stopping. Thanks for the inspiration and blessings to you.
