I can see why trump is calling it out now in contrast to waiting until later.
1. he has all his staffers gathered at the WH waiting for a party and a speech, so he gave a speech in recognition of their efforts. the public got the same speech because they too deserved recognition for voting for trump (results being one way or the other).
2. trump wants to move the process along ASAP as a counterstrategy to the apparent Democrat strategy of FUD.
3. hard deadlines are coming up for resolution of the EC vote, and trump wants to avoid the dangers of hitting those hard deadlines.
maybe (dunno) the military are enough to protect DC until the USSC rules (or biden concedes).

yes, he came out fairly early and said “we are on the way to victory” and some nonsense about counting all the votes and within 3 minutes, a lid was called.
