COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho — The congregation of Candlelight Christian Fellowship gathered around tables sipping coffee and grapple with theological questions.
With a potluck dinner, no masks and plenty of shared hugs, the night felt like a throwback to the pre-pandemic era except for a noticeable exception on the stage: The lead pastor, Paul Van Noy, was addressing the congregation with the aid of supplemental oxygen, piped into his nostrils from a small tank.
About a month ago, Van Noy, 60, was discharged from a hospital in a wheelchair after a COVID-19 infection brought him to the brink of death. But while that scare ravaged his lungs and rattled the church, it has done little to alter the growing sentiment among many people in northern Idaho that the coronavirus cannot be stopped and efforts to contain it are doing more harm than good.
“I think we just open up and we just let it take its course,” said Nancy Hillberg, 68, as church members mingled after the service. “Just let it be done.”
Amid a record spike of coronavirus cases and the final days of the presidential election, President Donald Trump and his administration have expressed increasing helplessness at containing the virus, focusing instead on improvements in survivability and trying to hold the economy together. While it is a theme welcomed by many of the president’s supporters, it has proved alarming to health officials who are encountering rising resistance to their calls for unity in combating a pandemic that has already claimed nearly 230,000 Americans and threatens to take many more.
Governors around the country, particularly Republican ones, are following the president’s lead in resisting new restrictions against a virus that has powerfully persisted despite lockdowns in some areas over the spring and summer.

I am convinced the Rats seeded it again. Bunch of folks have gotten it in my locale, including me and my wife. Won’t be long and it should burn itself out around here. That should have been done long ago

Open up, wear masks if you wish, socially distance, wash your hands and stay home if you are sick, care for the sick and help them out best we can. Carry on.

it IS too late to stop it. Even if the outbreak subsides, there will always be a case or two here and there that can cause it to spread, reoccur, etc. Look at things like polio, bubonic plague, etc. these things are defeated but they always come back, although to a much much lesser degree.
anyone who says otherwise is a liar. Even small pox can come back if the conditions are right. I am not immune to it. My oldest sister is. She got the immunization but i didn’t.

We are shutdown by Fear and not by the Virus.
After the election, the Experts and the Pundits will begin to sagely advise us that the time for Fear has passed and that we ought to pretty much go back to normal.
The problem isn’t epidemiological. The problem is politics.
Just in time for election day
Unless we are forced into Howard Hughes lockdown were we are all peeing into bottles and obsessed about germs. Even the it is hopeless.
“Some” as in anyone with a functioning brain. The only hope of stopping a virus like this is VERY early by rounding up and quarantining everyone near the initial outbreak site. Once it escapes, it’s absolutely impossible to completely stop it. I still stick by my guess that some corrupt nincompoop flunky was stealing the lab animals at the Wuhan/Fauci lab and selling them under the table at the Mystery Meat Market nearby. You could get away with that for a long time before you got the wrong lab animal, and it could spread beyond containment before you knew it was out.
The virus was never the problem. The response was. And that is all on the democrats and the MSM.
Hydroxocloriquin tablet, anyone? :)
What’s really comical is that if you google Covid 19 symptoms and read down the list, it’s describing a common cold or flu with a single difference: Temporary loss of taste or smell.
And it prey’s on the already weak, which is actually a significant plus.
Sure they did
That plus no condemnation of rioters et al. They weren’t as interested in burning places down as they were spreading the virus amongst their expendable idiots
