“A Lot Of People Are Leaving”: COVID Shutdowns Have Turned San Francisco Into A Ghost Town
USSA News ^ | 10-31-2010 | Tyler Durden

San Francisco has managed to curb the virus slightly in its city – but at what cost? Those paying sky high taxes to live in the Bay Area may soon be wondering why they are paying to live in a shut down city that state and local government officials have refused to allow to reopen due to a virus with a CDC-predicted infection fatality rate of between 0.00002 and 0.093.

The entire downtown area of the city, once vibrant with business and tourism, is now “empty” according to a new report by AP. Everything from food trucks to local workers used to be sights one would see on a daily basis in San Francisco. Now, the city has been all but abandoned.

Even the tech giants that San Francisco is known for have left the city, in favor of working remotely from elsewhere. Families have moved out of the city in favor of the suburbs. Rents in the city are crashing, as we highlighted about a month ago. Tourists, once part of the lifeblood of the city, are now “scarce”.

As a result, business owners wonder if the city will ever get back to normal. Evan Kidera, CEO of Señor Sisig food trucks, said: “Is it ever going to get back to normal, is it ever going to be as busy as it was — and will that be next year, or in 10 years?”

This past week, part of the city re-opened as a result of virus numbers slowing. We’re sure it won’t be long until case numbers freak out elected officials heading into the winter, however, and everything is once again put into draconian “the government knows what’s best for you”-style lockdown.

San Francisco first announced its residents should stay at home in March....

Why aren’t San Franciscans egging Pelosi’s door?

Because she lives up in wine country in a mansion and winery with armed guards. Her refrigerator is large enough to act as a safe room for her and her extended family.

The Pandemic is already resorting in places like California and New York. San Francisco will close down again, and the businesses that have lingered on will close. San Francisco will become like Detroit within two years. It’s so filled with Homeless people that no one wants to go there let alone live there

We haven’t curbed it. We have delayed it. What is the point.

Nope, won't happen. If anything, it'll become like Hong Kong. Even more crowded and Chinese running everything. The Chinese will push the homeless out, once they take over the local government offices from the queers and PC leftists.

Nancy doesn’t stay there anymore. She lives in her home in Napa because San Francisco is too overrun with homeless

“...who will grill Fauci?...”

Better yet: who will publicly hang Fauxi.
He has the blood of thousands on his hands.
He should be tried for mass murder and crimes against humanity.

The IFR of the virus is 2.5%.

No, you are citing bogus statistics. IFR in NYC in April was 1% (0.25% of the population died and 25% had antibodies). NYC was our worst case with terrible leadership and collapsed hospitals like Elmhurst. Our overall CFR has gone down since April about about 5X although a lot of that is because it's not NYC (New Orleans, Detroit, etc).

Part of the improvement is better treatments and younger cases. We don't know the exact IFR nationwide but it's certainly less than 1%. Some studies show as low as 0.25% 2-3 times as deadly as the worst flu. Bad but not that bad.

Cases are 9.4 million, deaths are 236,000. That’s a 2.5% IFR. Those are the statistics. Unless you think those were all crisis actors...

The common flu kills 36,000 on average each year. That’s out of 36,000,000 annual cases. We’ve lost 236,000 out of 9.4 million cases of CCP-19. Just a bad flu, right. What happens when the other 320 million people that haven’t been exposed, yet, get it? They don’t have the benefit of prior exposure or a vaccine to proffer some immunity.

You can make up any BS you like, but that won’t change the facts. Letting confirmation bias rule your thinking will inevitably result in cognitive dissonance. So get real.

Please cite sources for your numbers. And your calculation.

I think you’re reading my mind.

I’ve told this, to hubby, so many times.

Just wait...you’ll see....before too long, we’ll be able to buy prime property, in CA, for next to nothing!!

His repeated reply.....Maybe, but the property and state taxes would make it a terrible investment.

I don’t believe that death count.

Besides...hasn’t CDC already admitted that some/many of these deaths were of people who died WITH China Flu, not FROM China Flu?

Heck.....probably everyone has had it, by now. But, if one falls off the ladder, and leave their mortal coil, tomorrow, they’ll likely be labeled a China Flu death.

Total absurdity.

Even the Chinese are leaving SF.

Yes and no. Due to neighborhood association rules, Chinese were pretty much confined to the cities. When the suburban rules were outlawed, there was an outflow of Chinese to the suburbs in the 1960s. Most of these Chinese were conservative and pro-nationalist Taiwanese and Hong Kong sympathizers. Blacks started leaving SF after WWII (they were brought here from the south to work the shipyards and occupied Japanese homes when the Japanese were interned in concentration camps). As the black population dwindled, Asians flooded in. Many of the Chinese who came to SF were pro-mainland Chinese and sympathetic to the commies, setting up a clash between Chinese here in SF.

There are lots of Chinese in SF. The Sunset and Richmond districts used to be mostly white, now they're mostly Asian and primarily Chinese. A new Chinatown sprung up on Clement in the Richmond District. Chinese restaurants are now spread throughout the city in formerly all white neighborhoods.

There was a huge influx of white techies in the last 30 years, and they're displacing a lot of latinos, but the Chinese largely remain. Chinese are also infiltrating formerly black neighborhoods in the Western Addition and Bayview/Hunters Point.

It's to be decided who will take over SF in the future, between the Chinese and the whites (split between yuppie techies and queers). I think the Chinese will take over.

Cases are 9.4 million, deaths are 236,000.

Your number of cases is correct only if you assume that there every single person who ever contracted Covid went for a test and had it confirmed. Not a single person slipped through the cracks. No asymptomatic people who never bothered getting tested...nothing.

I suspect that isn't correct.

All that’s going to happen eventually is that when property values get sufficiently suppressed, the elites will come in and scoop them up for pennies on the dollar.

If Biden wins on Tuesday, it will be the Chicoms swooping in to scoop up bargains.

All that was prior to the COVID-19 shutdowns. It has been reported by many that the Chinese are leaving like everyone else.

IFR from “cases”! lol.

there are no doubt tens of millions of Americans who would test positive...if tested. so what? meaningless.

there is only deaths per million or by 100,000 per country worldwide. and even that is not correct, but will have to do for now.

Ummmm, what does that have to do with what I said? The shutdowns were in the name of COVID-19, so what else is one supposed to call them?
