Walmart says it has removed ammunition and firearms from displays at its U.S. stores, citing 'civil unrest' in some areas.

The nation's largest retailer, based in Bentonville, Arkansas, sells firearms in about half of its 4,700 stores. The move comes days before the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 3, with many worried that the result could be contested or spark violence.

'We have seen some isolated civil unrest and as we have done on several occasions over the last few years, we have moved our firearms and ammunition off the sales floor as a precaution for the safety of our associates and customers,'

Kind of an odd round. Old, but good.

They are pulling them to keep them from the looters.

They're being disingenuous. They're pulling a lot more than firearms, especially pharmaceuticals but they don't want to be called racist by announcing it.

They know exactly which stores already have high "shrink" from items being stolen. It's tracked by each inventory adjustment and Loss Prevention rolls it up weekly.

Same with our area, which is a nothing flyover state that would be the last place these assholes would be bussed into to riot and loot. Nonetheless, guns and ammo is scarce. My favorite rounds have been off the shelf for weeks with no idea when a restock will come in. Few guns on the shelves too.

Like most, we stocked up early on ammo to include a couple new gun purchases.

When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has pasted.

Yet there is still a little time to take precautions. At least take steps and plan on handling supply chain delays much like the beginning or the Covid shutdowns.

If I were to run low ammo is available any time I leave the house. Always there. However, I’m set.

Why not just post armed guards at their doors. Are businesses not allowed to defend their property and employees anymore?

... More than likely an effort to prevent the looting of weapons and ammo from the coming riots ....

More than likely an excuse to permanently remove guns and ammo from all Walmart stores.

“Walmart is about the last place I’d go for anything gun related....or anything else for that matter.”

I used to buy all my practice ammo at Walmart before the shortages.

Our local Walmart moved all their guns out of display cases during the riots in Minneapolis but moved them back later. They stock a very limited selection of guns now....22LR, 30-30 lever action Henrys, maybe a couple of bolt action deer rifles.

They’ve abandoned law abiding law abiding gun owners

Kind of an odd round. Old, but good.

Hard to find the rifles in Maryland this year. The state now allows deer hunting with straight walled cartridges in all counties. Previously only certain counties allowed rifles, the others were shotgun or muzzleloader.

I looked for a Henry lever gun in .44 mag (to go with my revolver). No can find.

I would call metafallacy on you for that, however, personal injury attorneys can attack businesses supplying pharms that were deemed harmful to a very tiny minority as well, so good point.

This action is based mostly on liability issues but I bet a large amount of money that several some board members at Walmart despise the 2nd Amendment as well as any State and Federal Bill of Rights for that matter.

Makes sense. A lot of paperwork if the looters steal the guns. Better to keep them locked up for a few weeks.

Walmart polling must show that Trump is in fairly good shape.

I’ve never understood last minute buying. But the truth of the matter is, Walmart fears the stores being looted. And they don’t want the guns and ammo to be taken and used by the Antifa and BLM folks
