What happens to the viruses in the 65-85% of particles that are trapped in the mask? Especially the liquid aerosol particles. Let's say a very small droplet containing many viruses is trapped in the mask fibers. As this droplet evaporates where do the viruses go? Do they drop to the ground? Are some expelled by the breath? Are some inhaled by the inward force of breathing?
Is it possible that a mask collects and concentrates virus by collecting airborne particles which would otherwise be dispersed? Might such a concentration of virus than be inhaled through the mask?
From all that I have read (in scientific journals) masks do little to nothing to prevent viral infection. If worn too long before replacement, they might actually enhance chances of infection.
Wearing a mask is a placebo. It if makes anyone feel better, then wear one. I remain dubious.

After 24hrs on cotton fabric, it’s dead.
You’re up early. Thanks for the quick reply. The great mask debate will go on. Have a good one.
The mask "controversy" provides Biden with a distinction from Trump and is a useful tool to deflect attention from Biden's highly questionable mental health, his and his family's crimes against America, his commitment to "fundamentally transform" our Republic into a socialist utopia and that his running mate (and likely successor when he inevitably falls apart) is an avowed, America-hating communist (and a very nasty person).
Then again, this is the only positive thing about mask-wearing: It gives still-irrationally frightened people the courage and feeling of "safety" to venture outside their homes and be around other human beings where, because the mask (because of the way nearly everyone who wears one improperly selects, applies/fit tests, wears and/or maintains it), has little to no effect on stopping transmission of something as infinitessimally small as a virus, the mask-wearers help spread the virus and participate (although unwittingly) to build widespread immunity ... a very socially responsible thing to do. Cheers!
