BIG TECH BURNED BY BIDEN BLUNDER
Instapundit ^ | October 20, 2020 | Glenn Reynolds

In my 2019 book, The Social Media Upheaval, I warned that the Big Tech companies — especially social media giants like Facebook and Twitter — had grown into powerful monopolists, who were using their power over the national conversation to not only sell ads, but also to promote a political agenda. That was pretty obvious last year, but it was even more obvious last week, when Facebook and Twitter tried to black out the New York Post’s blockbuster report about emails found on a laptop abandoned by Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son Hunter.

The emails, some of which have been confirmed as genuine with their recipients, show substantial evidence that Hunter Biden used his position as Vice President Joe Biden’s son to extract substantial payments from “clients” in other countries. There are also photos of Hunter with a crack pipe, and engaging in various other unsavory activities. And they demolished the elder Biden’s claim that he never discussed business with his son.

That’s a big election-year news story. Some people doubted its genuineness, and of course it’s always fair to question a big election-year news story, especially one that comes out shortly before the election. (Remember CBS newsman Dan Rather’s promotion of what turned out to be forged memos about George W. Bush’s Air National Guard service?)

But the way you debate whether a story is accurate or not is by debating. (In the case of the Rather memos, it turned out the font was from Microsoft Word, which of course didn’t exist back during the Vietnam War era.) Big Tech could have tried an approach that fostered such a debate. But instead of debate, they went for a blackout: Both services actually blocked links to the New York Post story. That’s right: They blocked readers from discussing

MIT REPORT: Twitter Ban ‘Nearly Doubled’ The Visibility Of Hunter Biden Laptop
After the NY Post brilliantly reported the entire sordid Biden story....

h/t GOPJ.......it's great Facebook aided Trump, helping to get the word out by banning the story about Hunter Biden selling out the US
to China, Ukraine, etc etc etc for billions of dollars and kicking back HALF to Daddy. That's how Joe Biden paid for his mansions ....

====================================

Yeah, but somewhere in that shady global math, Obama got his cut. Delicious to contemplate the greedy Biden's lied to Obama
about the global graft.....and kept most of the money for themselves. (Crackhead Hunter has a vicious drug habit to support.....
not to mention the cost of his sex addiction)

20 Oct: NY Post: Post’s exposé on Hunter Biden soars online despite social media censorship
By Mark Moore
The story generated 2.59 million interactions — likes, comments and shares — on Facebook and Twitter — more than double the next biggest story about President Trump or former Vice President Joe Biden, Axios reported, citing data analyzed by NewsWhip.

Stories about Hunter Biden, the reactions and how social media responded were five of the 10 biggest stories.
It was the 6th-most engaged article for the month — behind Trump testing positive for the coronavirus and rocker Eddie Van Halen’s death.
Facebook accounted for 83 percent of the interactions, with the remaining 17 percent on Twitter, which also suspended The Post’s account.

The reaction of the social media platforms to the story was the second biggest topic last week, largely driven by criticism & that the Silicon Valley giants were meddling in the election by practicing censorship...

Just debate the issue?
How about just going to Hunters House and ask him if those are his emails.
The messages have been found to be authentic because their recipients have said so.
So now Sleepy Joe needs to come clean on where he stashed the money,or if Hunter paid for all hid homes with the cash,or maybe Joe has a Swiss Bank account.

the best solution is probably to apply antitrust law to break up these monopolies: Competing companies would police each other, and if they colluded could be prosecuted under antitrust law.
That is true of Facebook/Twitter, but it is true "in spades" of the Associated (!) Press and all the other wire services:
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. - Adam Smith, Wealth of Nations (1776)
Wire services are virtual meetings of all major journalism institutions.

The Democrat Party doesn’t control “the media;” it’s the other way around. “The media” and the Democrats are a giant go-along-and-get-along operation.
