WASHINGTON (AP) — Debate commission adopts new rules to mute microphones to allow Trump, Biden 2 minutes of uninterrupted time per segment.
How queer. For a domestic issues debate (falsely advertised as a foreign policy debate), there is ZERO discussion of the Economy. And ZERO discussion of the Democrat brownshirt Biden rallies with Bernie Bros murdering Trump supporters.
And National Security IS a foreign policy topic.

It is certain as soon as Trump tries to interject the Biden pay-for-play scandal, the mike will be muted and the moderator will tell him his comment is off topic. The Trump team knows this and I think they will manage a strategy to get the word out.
Trump can refer to Biden as “the big guy”. We know why; others will wonder. Maybe they will look it up.
Who will operate the on/off mic? A left winger.

If done correctly, history will place it alongside Reagan’s debate line (”I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent’s youth and inexperience”)
Also ... even if Trump stays on topic ... a common thing that happens is the moderators don’t agree with what Trump is saying so they interrupt and argue with him.
They don’t interrupt Biden so much because they agree with his argument.

Also to smirk, laugh, snarl, sigh and then declare EVERYTHING the other guy just said is a lie. He did it with Paul Ryan, he tried it with Sarah Palin and the same in the first Trump debate.
If I were Trump, I’d keep doing the rallies, leaving Biden cramming for the debate, then say the day before he won’t do the debate. It keeps Biden in his basement while keeping Trump getting his word out.
Although I think that the whole structure of the Presidential debates is corrupt, since the moderators are generally leftists, I do not see this change so much as a change of rules as a change to enforce existing rules. President Trump has no more right to violate the rules than anyone else. We would be livid if Biden was constantly talking over the President. Fair is fair. Following the rules is not just for the other guy.
Not only changing the rules, but the topics. This debate was supposed to be about foreign policy. They ditched that all together and now have the same old lib topics - Covid, Climate Change, Race Relations, etc....
If I was Trump I’d tell them to stuff it.
They already have an Obama-loving POS leftist “moderating” the debate and a stack of “important issues” that are important only to leftists. Now they can cut off Trump’s answers at will so there’s nothing he can do in response to their coordinated attacks?
What’s next? Are they going to demand he wear a gag and type his answers into a Google “truth machine” before airing them?

If I was in a debate and my opponent started off proclaiming that every word out of my mouth was a lie, I’d say “well, then there’s no point talking to you” and walk off.
Nope. Give Biden a full two minutes for each of six topics to bury himself. BUT, if the mikes are muted, the moderator had damn well better not butt into either candidate's time.
