Here are the takeaways from this morning's early voting report from the NC State Board of Elections:
1) Republicans cut about 1.5 points from the Democrats lead in VBM/early in-person voting.
2) Votes cast: 665K/355K/408K (D/R/U registered voters)
3) Democrats have cast 310,000 more votes than Rs, but..
4) In 2016, Democrats cast--get this--exactly 310,000 more votes than Republicans in the entire early voting period, i.e., the exact same spread as today. In 2016, at the close of EV, Dems led Rs 1.3 million to 1 million VBM/EV cast.
5) Republicans have won 3 straight days of early voting so far, and are the odds-on favorite to win most (if not all) of the remaining in-person EV days, as Dem-heavy mail-in ballots are slowing down to a trickle.
6) Caveat: Black voters have turned out in the first 3 days of in-person EV in large numbers (especially Day One). The good news is that Rs still out-performed Ds on all three days, which means that white Democrats cannibalized their in-person votes by voting via mail. Black voters may be "front-loaded" in in-person EV through voter drives, but we will need 3 or 4 more days of data to confirm this.
7) Conclusion: Calm down about NC. We are in good shape. This state ALWAYS looks bad for Rs at the beginning. (continued)

“Unaffiliated” these days means “don’t dox me bro” Trump supporters.
Someone who tweets should tell Cotto/Godfried.
Early voting should be eliminated. The solution would be to have an Election Day holiday.
Already tweeted him. Some grudging acceptance.
Not all Dems support Slo Ho!
Good stuff Bort! #6 is key for me.
Thanks for this report. What does VBM stand for?
Thats me....middle aged White Male registered Independent.
I drove by the early voting place multiple times the first three days of early voting. The lines em were a block long every time. I decided to wait until next week when they are hopefully a little shorter (ie, there are plenty more of us still waiting to vote).
Also, there was a row of Trump supporters out front by the (busy) road holding up signs and telling people to honk for Trump. I heard a lot of honking. There were no supporters for Biden there doing anything similar.
The way I see it, the biggest problem here is Tillis. We don’t like him. Yeah, he says the right things NOW, but he was an early “Never Trumper”.
I sure don’t want that reprobate, Cunningham, to get in, but I’m going to need a shower after I vote for Tillis, if I can force myself to.
“Early voting should be eliminated. The solution would be to have an Election Day holiday”
Here in Israel, there is no early voting, no mail in ballots, and not even absentee ballots. you either show up at the election booth (with your ID) on election day (which yes, is a paid holiday here) or you don’t vote.
The only exceptions are diplomatic staff and their family that are stationed overseas, and perhaps IDF soldiers on ships etc....
Exactly. I work for big banks. Think I want to advertise my political views? It might or might not hurt. It definitely would not help with them.
So, no signs or bumper stickers. No discussing politics at work. Just show up and vote straight ticket Republican - and donate to multiple gun rights organizations. Shhhhh. Keep things nice and quiet.
To compare the 310,000 early voting numbers in comparison to 2016... How much time remains in this year’s early voting.?
It’s sad so many Blacks support the party that wants to reduce them through abortion and replace them through illegal immigration.
You have to do it. I dont like Tillis either. But the time to take him out is the primary. We cant hand a vote from a red state over to Chuck Schumer. Tillis votes for Trumps judicial nominees and voted against shampeachment. That alone leaves me no choice but to vote for him - even if I do so while holding my nose.

I am retired from .gov in an office that was stocked full of leftists.
In 2016 I enjoyed them crowing about how Hillary would crush Trump since she had a double digit lead in the polls.
I knew they were about to get the shock of their lives (since I had crunched the real numbers in these parts) but I kept my big mouth shut.
I worked at home for a week after that election.
By the time I got back the leftist loudmouths were very quiet...
Fast forward—The day they put President Trump’s picture in the lobby you could have heard a pin drop....
Ends Halloween
And my question is how many Democrats are voting for Trump!
