WSB radio just announced Trump will not participate in the virtual debate next week. That's all I have so far.
Edited to add:
Pres Trump: "I'm not going to waste my time on a virtual debate." Fox Business interview with Maria Bartiromo
Why?
Prove to me that people were actually called and polled people on the phone. Couldnt they just make up the numbers Prove? Have the courage to know your enemy. Prove to me they actually make phone calls. Prove to me they actually get enough Republicans on the phone to make samples okay. As you know conservatives tend to hang up and not participate because we dont trust what people do with information that we give them they can destroy our families and our fortunes. Prove that to me. By the way my educational background is in statistics and sampling methods not that that matters Since that was such a long time ago.

Bingo. Well stated . Liars figure how to lie and expect us to believe it
Billy Jeff and Barry O masters of the meme
CNN freaking out on Trump calling that two bit slut a monster and communist. He was easy in her. Shes a lying POS who time and again called him a racist and said he disparaged the military. Like I said he was easy on her.
Only if its virtual.
I don’t believe it.
The president should call out Joe Biden on Twitter and challenge him to a debate without a moderator. You know, the same way that Biden calls out Trump and asks him to meet him behind the gym... Biden, just you and me - mano y mano. We can bring up any topic we like. You can stand 12 feet away from me, even though I now have the antibodies and cannot spread the disease! What ya say?

Very Trumpian response to shoe leather joe pseudo tough guy
That is an incredibly good book for obtaining an insight into who Trump is as a person, and how he operates as a businessman. Theres a whole chapter on how he negotiates.
These dangers were known to the Trump organization when the format was agreed to.
I see no unmanageable additional risk, I believe the explanation must lie elsewhere.
-sort of lets Dems say he is afraid I hope I’m wrong-
Afraid as in someone who wants to play tackle football instead of flag football?
We are now seeing a post corona virus discrimination against the president only, an obvious evil to stigmatize victims.
Follow the science? What frauds.
I agree. I don’t think it’s a good idea if it comes to pass but somehow I doubt it will.
Ted Cruz was on near the end of F&F and talked about the debates and how the questions from Wallace appeared to have been prepared in advance for Biden's favor. Like a trained monkey, Ainsley jumps in with a full throated defense of how hard it was for Wallace to keep control. Cruz takes a sip from his coffee, cracks a sly smile and answers "I understand."
“Someone throws a virtual debate on the table as an offer, in public, without discussing it with him. Trump refuses.
Are they negotiating? What do you think the next step will be?”
It is not a negotiation unless Trump makes a counter-offer.
They wouldnt. I suspect thats the whole point. Biden would be hooked up to whoever can actually debate (I.e. remember the lies).
Apparently neither campaign was informed ahead of time.
I dont believe that for one second! No offense, but does anybody believe that this commission came upon this idea by themselves? Especially from a group that provided debate questions in advance to her thighness.
Werent there reports Biden was expressing concern over the next debate?
Of course it changes the “odds” in addition to changing the actual format to which the President and Biden had agreed. I’m surprised you even asked such a question. Campaigns agree to every detail...location and setting, date, moderator, even a box to stand on when the two candidates have a perceptible height difference. I don’t know if they execute a signed agreement (contract) but they certainly have a verbal agreement. Going from an in-person format to a virtual one is a huge material change to their mutual agreement. Both sides should have been consulted in advance and their agreement should have been obtained before the “Commission” publicly announced the change. Trump, being a businessman well used to contractual processes, wisely rejected this gambit. If you don’t understand this, that’s on you, not on the President.
John Roberts said that the Stepien response was too scripted to be prepared on the fly immediately after the CPD announcement and the campaign might have had more notice than they are saying. Roberts goes on to say he’s going to did deeper in how it was released immediately after the CPD announcement.
Exactly!!
