… on Monday the eccentric millionaire was arrested – this time for real – in Spain, where he is awaiting extradition to the US after he was charged with tax evasion by federal prosecutors who allege McAfee hid cryptocurrency, a yacht, and real estate as part of a conspiracy to evade taxes, which he forgot to pay from 2014 to 2018.

At the same time the SEC also charged the former programmer for promoting investments in initial coin offerings (ICOs) to his Twitter followers without disclosing that he was paid to do so. McAfee’s bodyguard, Jimmy Watson, Jr., was also charged for his role in the alleged scheme.

“eccentric millionaire”

I wish I were wealthy enough for “crazy” to be considered “eccentric”. Or even wealthier, so it would be considered “visionary”.

Strange guy.

Incidentally, my view is that McAfee is itself a virus. Same with Norton. If I get a box that has either of them preinstalled, the first thing I do is get rid of it.

I always wonder if he has “dead man’s switch” and mcafee will stop working. It would be funny, IMHO.

Dang. The Dynachrome of 40 years ago would have done it. It would not have turned out well.

John McAfee has not had any relationship (including financial) with the company since 1994. In fact, he has called McAfee anti-virus software the worst software in the world.

Norton Utilities was THE BEST back in the DOS days (pre-antivirus, of course)..
As soon as Peter Norton sold his company, it went down the obungole :P

I’ve heard that he has about 31T of incriminating files on various politicians. Let’s see if that gets dumped now that he’s been arrested.

Hi.

Seems like John just can’t stay outta jail (and civil lawsuits too).

Methinks one day, John will just disappear and never be heard from again.
