Nelson....the Corona Virus doesn't care what measures you take...the evidence is in this cannot be controlled. Lock downs didn't work to stop it, quarantines have not stopped it, tracing hasn't stopped it, masks and gloves have not stopped it. It's going to do what pandemics do...spread until it burns itself out.

It's called a Pandemic for a reason.

I think the WH testers need to be investigated. What’s to say one of them didn’t shove an infected swab up their noses.

There is no test for how contagious you are. That is not a thing which exists.

You know what - I ACTUALLY agree with you. I really do.

I do believe, however, that N95 masks would work. I agree that the regular masks people are wearing do not work as effectively. Well fitted N95 masks would work. We game-planned this during every PANEX I ever worked.

So - I actually DO agree with you. What I am having an issue with is the treatment here that it is not a pandemic (which is simply defying the definition - look it up) and that it is a non-issue). I have an issue with the ignorance of the impact that co-morbidities play in ALL disease processes - like the flu. How many people die from the flu every year? NOT MANY! They die from co-morbidities.

I am frustrated by the posts I see elsewhere where people say it doesn't even exist because they haven't met anyone who has had it - meanwhile, I have personally known over a dozen who have had it and two who have died. One who has had it was 19 - and she still struggles with the effects 7 months later.

So - while the death rate seems to be 3-4x higher than the flu - and while we have certainly learned MUCH on how to mitigate these issues - what a LOT of people on here don't want to seem to mention is the lingering impacts of those who get sick. You don't get that with the flu. My 19-year-old friend still has breathing issues. Doubtful that would be the case had she just had the flu.

So - the left - yeah - I agree they are over-reacting and for power. Sure. However- there is an over-reaction here as well into ignorance.

Where did I mention Trump?

And did he close it down? How?

Ignore what he says, and watch what he does. He’s a politician.

So - while the death rate seems to be 3-4x higher than the flu -

*****************

Actually a few days ago the WHO released an estimate of total infections worldwide which indicates that the infection fatality rate for C19 is currently about 0.13%.

That makes it about as fatal as a bad flu strain.

Less dangerous for younger people, more dangerous for elderly.

“Frankly, I think these tests are all b.s.”

I agree, a lot of the positives are false positives - and even if not false, all being positive means is that you were exposed - you got a few micro organisms in you, it does NOT mean that you are at all sick or likely to get sick.

Frankly, I think this virus is so widespread - like the common cold - that if you test often enough, you will eventually test positive - but it’s no big deal.

The Republicans surrounding the President are required to test constantly - hence all the positives.

I suspect Democrat politicians are testing positive too, but are not announcing it in order to try and support their narrative that Republicans brought this on themselves by not following ‘the guidelines‘.

If that is true Democrats won’t be able to hide their cases for much longer.. especially with flu season upon us. More sniffling and sneezing will drive people to get tested - and positives will spike.

One very favorable trend accompanying this spike in positives though, is the fact that public figures are recovering quickly these days.

The stories about famous people dying of covid - like Herman Cain - seem increasingly rare and even suspect. Seems like they probably died of something else, and happened to test positive for covid.

Nowadays, when you hear someone tests positive, you can be fairly confident they will get over it like a cold and be fine.

That has to be good for quelling the panic of catching the covid.

Thank you for your response.

Well anyone who thinks there's not covid out there has their head deep in the sand. The President and his staff are facing this so denial of covid is just stupid.

I had the respiratory flu a few years ago, it was brutal! Had the cough for two months after recovery as did others in my workplace. It just lingered for any who caught it. So I have no problem there are ‘after effects’ people can deal with....and if they have other issues of health likely they'll suffer more-so.

There's no doubt this covid can hit some much harder than others...immune systems matter as do other issues...but people in excellent health are getting this as well and have died. Could be they waited too long to get care....so there's many factors that come into play. The thing is it can kill you when and especially with other health issues in play.

Everyone is certainly finding their own comfort level in avoiding this virus....but I think these extreme measures are way out there. Open the economy, kids back in school, and such.

That's only true of their estimate is true. The same guy also said this: the world is in “for a hell of a ride for the next eight or nine months” as it awaits a vaccine, but he cautioned that a vaccine will “not be a silver bullet, but an additional tool that should be added to a comprehensive strategy to fight this disease”.

“The problem is there is more than six billion left. Therein lies our problem,”

So - take it all if you take any of it. If the CFR is the same - that means we have an R0 that is significantly HIGHER. The end result turns out to be the same result: more deaths.

If you recall, there was a hot mic moment at the WH press room where a reporter was talking about the masks and said something to the affect of “well, we’ve all been vaccinated”. The media went into overdrive reporting it was a hoax but at this point in time it’s definitely a thing that makes you go “hmmmmmmm”.

Wearing the masks is like having a chainlink fence around your home to protect you from mosquitos. It does nothing.

So we should all just wear chain-link masks - is that what you're saying?

I agree. I have lung issues. I'm 100% VA disabled and on SSDI - with a partial VA rating for it because of crap I got into in Central America in the 90's. Burn barrels, other stuff. I had pneumonia 4 times during my last 5 years of AD before I retired. Believe me - nobody dislikes having to be precautious more than me and my family. But that's what they do because they love me.

But it takes one weak link.
