Also soldiers risk diseases, drowning, gunshot, aircraft crash, concussions, heat stroke, parasites, various waterborne diseases, malaria, etc.

They run that risk and often lose the gamble FOR THE WELL-BEING OF THE NATION.
A President wants to sent a message that he is in good shape to rioters, enemies, friends, supporters, those who would try to launch a coup, etc. Him making that trip probably does involve a very small risk to his Secret Service guys.
But there is significant national interest in him not being sequestered in a hospital ward for 2 weeks, and it isn’t all just domestic politics.

Those secret service men, like US Soldiers, ran a small risk to their own health for the national good. I am sure they mitigated it as well as they could. But you don’t become a member of his protective detail to stay safe.

That’s my take on it.
