The political future of Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey is unknown, according to a report today, indicating that he may not run for reelection or for governor of Pennsylvania in 2022.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported the news Sunday, citing two people familiar with his plans.
While the 58-year-old Republican senator is expected to serve out his current term, he is not expected to seek another term or to run for governor, for which he was seen as a likely GOP candidate, according to the Inquirer.
Toomey is expected to make an announcement Monday morning, spokesman Steve Kelly said.
He has served in the U.S. Senate since 2011 and is now the only Republican holding a non-judicial statewide elective office in Pennsylvania.

I gave him $10 vs. Arlen Specter in a primary even though my hero at the time-Rick Santorum-supported Specter. Specter was more likely to keep the seat and a SCOTUS nominee was involved. Toomy was good but like the others went his own way. Might have been necessary as Santorum bit the dust in 2006.
I think we should be able to hold the seat if we go with a good candidate especially during a mid-term.
Arlen Toomey finally read one of my letters to him. He knows he’s an eff’n RINO loser and he was going to get primaried. We need to find a real conservative with some testicular fortitude to run for this seat.
I dunno. History says the 6th year of a presidency(assuming trump wins) is tough for an incumbent. Toomy chickening out? Would it call for another squish? They’ll counter with pretty boy Conor Lamb.

Toomey might be the best you’re going to get as a Republican in PA these days. I might have felt differently 3-4 years ago, but Lou Barletta’s disappointing performance in the 2018 Senate race changed my outlook considerably.
I’m a 70 year old conservative widower. I think I might run for the position. Tired of these RINO a-holes ruining things for my grandchildren!
Unfortunately, Lou was not very well known statewide. He was my former congresscritter by the way. I knew him prior to that when he was major of Hazelton through a common drinking buddy. He’s a very decent person and a regular guy. He just might be too decent and regular to be a big-time politician.
Toomey’s a RIN, especially bad on 2A. I live in PA, disappointed.
I think it is a tough year because WH policy has to shift as the election begins the next year. In this case Pence would have to take a more visible roll and separate himself from Trump in areas that may hurt him as a candidate. Same in Congress, they have to separate themselves from contentious issues preparing for reelection and that may go against the policies the President is pushing. Makes for a tough year, which is why most Presidents spend the last two years doing a farewell tour. Trump is a horse of a different color, so I suspect he will fight and make deals until the day he leaves for Florida permanently.

IIRC, Toomey was a great Conservative Congressman.
However, he went over to the Dark Side as a Senator, confounding many of his supporters.

Barletta, a strong conservative - did very poor against Casey. The unfortunate reality is that there are more democrats than republicans registered in PA. Another problem Barletta faced was Casey's strong name recognition and strong support from so-called 'traditional' democrats.
The questions I would ask about Barletta's loss to Casey is whether the PA republican party and the RNC provided Barletta the support that he needed? Did Toomey provide Barletta his strong support; did he vigorously campaign for him? Did the republican party surround Barletta with a winning campaign staff and winning levels of $$?
What did the autopsy reveal about Barlett's Senate campaign and loss to Casey?
