WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump is experiencing mild symptoms after testing positive for the coronavirus, administration officials said on Friday, as the White House and presidential election campaign scrambled to adjust to the bombshell development.
Trump, who has played down the threat of the coronavirus pandemic from the outset, said he and his wife Melania had tested positive for the deadly virus and were going into quarantine. Their son Barron had tested negative, a White House official said.
Trump is not incapacitated and is working in isolation to avoid infecting others, a White House official said. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said the president, 74, was exhibiting mild symptoms. They gave no more details.
“We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” Trump said in a tweet early on Friday morning.
Wall Street tumbled at news of one of the biggest health scares involving an American president for decades, with the S&P 500 plunging more than %1.5 at the opening.
Vice President Mike Pence and his wife tested negative, a Pence spokesman said. The White House official said Pence would work from his own residence several miles from the White House and his staff was being kept separated from Trump’s staff “out of an abundance of caution.”
Pence, 61, a conservative former U.S. lawmaker and Indiana governor, would take over if Trump were to become incapacitated.

I heard Rush's opening monologues today and thought the same thing about it sounding like a eulogy. I attributed Rush's tone to his own ongoing battle with a life threatening illness. Maybe it's made him more fearful about reports like this than he was prior to his own illness.

It would be interesting to know how he’s being treated. A recent study showed amazing results from vitamin D3 given to hospitalized patients.
Upon hospitalization, 76 people were randomized into two groups, one with 50 people, the other with 26. They gave large doses of vitamin D to the 50 and not to the 26. Otherwise all were treated per normal protocol (which, as I recall, included HCQ). 13 of the 26 ended up in the ICU and two died. Only two of the 50 ended up in ICU and none died.
So, if you get it, maybe dose up on D3. Maybe even start now since it seems to have a lot of other benefits as well.
As for the HCQ part of this study, all of the patients were sick enough to require hospitalization, so they probably weren’t given HCQ as outpatients before hospitalization. Had they been, maybe they wouldn’t have ended up in the hospital at all. (I know, I know, what about the zinc?—I don’t know what they had with the HCQ.)
President Trump is like Superman. Fights for us. Reminds of when President Reagan got shot, and continued working as he recovered.
That’s why they say stuff like this. Gotta keep the fear, hysteria, and uncertainty going.

“Downplay” is a relative term.
“Downplayed” is the opposite of “overblown”.
The Leftist media has hugely “overblown“ this virus from the beginning.
Anyone who was hospitalized, that died or was was on their deathbed from another cause, was tested for covid. If they had it, their death was falsely attributed to covid.
Anyone who was asymptomatic or had common cold or flu symptoms, who had covid, was not tested and therefore not reported as a case.
By vastly overstating the numerator, and vastly understating the denominator, the fake science bureaucrats were able to “overblow“ the morbidity rate by orders of magnitude.
It was deliberately done to tank Trump’s election year economy.
The virus is real, but not nearly as deadly as they would have you believe.
Yes, at first, President Trump, a truth-teller, tried to expose the “overblown” aspect of the reporting of this virus.
You could say he “downplayed” it. But rightly so.
But the Left jumped all over him, so he quickly backed off.
Another reason stated by Rush that gave me pause...”I was notified at 1 A.M. of the President having Covid”. I can’t believe if it was simply a positive test result that Rush would be called in the middle of the night.
