The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) will give future moderators the option to cut candidates’ microphones following complaints about Tuesday’s initial debate, CBS’s Norah O’Donnell reported Wednesday afternoon.
The report comes hours after the bipartisan body announced it would implement changes to make the remaining debates less chaotic.
“The Commission on Presidential Debates sponsors televised debates for the benefit of the American electorate. Last night’s debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues. The CPD will be carefully considering the changes that it will adopt and will announce those measures shortly,” the group said in a statement Wednesday.
The announcement came after lawmakers and media figures expressed frustration and exhaustion with the first debates. President Trump frequently interrupted Democratic nominee Joe Biden and also sparred with moderator Chris Wallace of Fox News after he asked him to allow Biden to answer his questions per the rules.
“Mr. President, I’m the moderator of this debate and I’d like you to let me ask my questions,” Wallace eventually said.

The CPD has not yet formally announced what specific steps, if any, it will take to ensure adherence to the rules at further debates. Biden and Trump are set to square off again on Oct. 15 and 22, while Vice President Pence and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) will have their single debate on Oct. 7.
The Hill has reached out to the CPD for comment.
Biden got thrashed so badly they cant let this repeat.
The POTUS, the most powerful man in the world, cannot agree with SUCH AN INSULT.
I hope he doesn’t.
That may be the whole point of this. The Dems don’t want any more debates. So they set up these silly rules to try to get Trump to say no.
I think this is the real goal in mind by doing this.
Their goal is to cause Trump to reject these terms and thus refuse to debate again. ..... Thereby saving Biden from additional debates with Trump and Joe doesn’t have to admit being too stupid to debate Trump again.

More specifically, they can’t have Trump introducing topics to the national discussion that the enemedia has successfully suppressed for years.
For example, can they have Trump repeat this Biden quote (even confirmed by Snopes)?: “Unless we do something about this, my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point.”
They didn’t run interference for him for this long just to have Trump expose it all; they must shut off his mic.
Why not just have a runner zip out and slap duct tape on his mouth every time?
Trump don’t need no mic.
He won’t get to speak at all. And they’ll call it a technical malfunction.

POTUS, Trump had a massive successful protest/rally yesterday in Duluth, Minnesota...tens of thousands of Trump supporters were there to cheer on our great leader onward. At the same time, a boring train ride from ancient history took the Bidens through Ohio and Pennsylvania, where the failing, Biden was only able to muster up about thirty people to his failed train campaign stops along the way!!!

Trump would be well served, if there are any further debates, to lend his ear to Rush’s observations:
“Trump came ready. He was loaded. He knew what the strategy was. Now, you can disagree with the strategy. I think the strategy was to try to rattle Biden and to facilitate whatever they thought might happen with the mental deficiencies that the candidate has exhibited. The effort was to try to hasten that.
And the frustrating thing is that Biden was demonstrating that, and Trump interrupted him rather than let it happen a number of times.
Trump, I don’t think, lost a single vote from his base last night. The question is whether any undecideds were moved.
It was frustrating all the way around. I really thought, folks, after five minutes… I thought Trump was gonna blow Biden away. I thought Trump was calm, he was informed, he was tough. And then it turned into this circus as if Trump didn’t really think or wasn’t aware beforehand what he was up against. I don’t know. It looked to me like Trump wasn’t prepared for the kind of moderator that he got last night.
I mean, he adapted after a while, but it looked like he was… I don’t know. Maybe I’m wrong. It looked like he was a little taken aback. He seemed surprised that Biden would slander him. He seemed surprised that Biden would lie. I can’t believe he was surprised by it, but the way things changed after the first five minutes I just had to wonder.”
He should bring out a bullhorn (not against the “rules”) and when Biden talks BS, do what BLM does to diners. Let’s see them try to take that away from him on live TV.

If Sean Spicer or someone of that fortitude is in control of the microphones, I’m all for it.
But the moderator needs his mic shut off when his time is over.
