Biden’s team commits to all presidential debates after Cleveland showdown
Fox News ^ | September 30 2020 | Edmund DeMarche

One of the top officials for Joe Biden's campaign wasted little time late Tuesday to confirm that the former vice president has committed to participating in the final two debates before the November election.

Kate Bedingfield, the deputy campaign manager, dismissed claims that he would skip the final two showdowns. Her remarks came after Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., told Politico that he was not sure that Biden should make the commitment. Coons, a Biden supporter, said that he would leave the decision to the campaign, but he questioned the effectiveness of debates for candidates facing off against Trump.

“The point of the debate is for the American people to make a decision, informed by hearing from the two candidates on what’s your record, what are your values? Joe Biden came prepared to respect the American people. Donald Trump did not,” he said.

Strategy if you ask me. Laura’s focus group showed how it works. Trumps voter are enthusiastic and are for Trump. The undecideds who want an alternative to Trump want “normalcy”. Biden is the guy who doesn’t rock the boat, very respectful. Trump pushed Biden and Biden became Trump. Disrespectful, nasty, name calling. That is not the alternative to Trump, that is Trump. When pushed to the brink people become Trump and no one does Trump like Trump. “If I HAD to choose based on this mess I saw I’d probably just pick Trump”. Took the shine off Biden by rolling in the mud.

I don’t think Steve Scully is a partisan hack. The C-SPAN debate will be fairly fair.

In the end, that is how I saw the debate played with voters too plus just how tough it is to debate not one but two people.

66% of Hispanic Telemundo viewers said Trump won. The Hispanic vote is key in several battleground states.

Someone mentioned Candy Crowley, that debate where she screwed Mitt cost her a career.

Weasel Wallace is over, at least he can never recover for
blindsiding Trump.
No Republican should ever go in his show.

I would love to see Laura , Tucker , Hannity Diss the weasel Wallace in primetime with video clips showing his
bias.

Wallass is by far the worst. His self importance makes him far more agressive. All are equally anti Trump.

They make the rules, we simply have to abide.

“ In the end, that is how I saw the debate played with voters too plus just how tough it is to debate not one but two people.‘

Trump had Wallace’s voice shaking, and had him stuttering. He goaded Biden into name calling (he called POTUS a clown and a liar), and cut his legs out just as he thought he would make his bid haymaker punch...his dead Vet son story which no doubt would culminate in the “suckers and losers” lie.

Trump said “Which son, Hunter? He got kicked out for cocaine and ended up making millions from China and Russia”.

It was a sight to behold.

This wasn't a debate in the sense of the Lincoln-Douglas debates.

It was a debate in the sense that World Wrestling Entertainment is debates.

We'll see how the storyline turns out after the third match.

By seeming to know who he was, where he was at and why he was there, Biden greatly exceeded expectations.

And like it or not, that's all he had to do.

Instead, several FReepers, Rush. etc have egg on their face suggesting / saying / predicting that Biden wouldn't show up to the debate.

Either dumb luck or rope-a-dope. In the end it won't matter if he gets elected.

I read that Steve Scully of C-SPAN will moderate the second debate on October 15.

Don’t know a thing about him since I don’t watch C-SPAN.

(In fact, I don’t watch any news on TV)

He talked about this at length yesterday.

He said, “If I’m wrong, at least don’t have to eat something on the air. I never promised to eat something.”

LOL!

Rush is on our side. The statements that Biden wouldn’t show was to highlight how feeble he is and put him down.

Well, he has to be a major improvement over Chris Wallace who all he did was debate Trump and argue with Trump and treat slo joe with kid gloves. It was the worst moderated debate in history. Wallace inserted himself constantly.

Yeah, that won’t impress independents or hardcore leftists, but I couldn’t help but feel that Trump vs. 2 guys wasn’t too bad.

It’s a statement that I can’t tell the difference between Chris Wallace and Chris Matthews.

The farce last night was not a debate, governed by the rules of debating, as one ought to expect. It was largely a battle of simultaneous voice volume dominance in which neither could be understood, a caterwaul of irrational sounds.

Unfortunately, it was Donald who (as the moderator pointed out) was uncontrollably disruptive, disobeying the explicit rules for intelligent argument. In it, even a fool (like Joe) will be counted wiser simply by keeping his mouth shut.

I do not think Donald helped himself in the eyes of a person of manners, humility, and tolerance. Unfortunately.

And now, to show himself better, Donald is trapped. He cannot escape the trial of his wisdom by continuing through the succeeding sessions. The only way he can prevail over Joe is by letting the challenger speak freely without interruption, then defray Joe's leftist fairy-tales by destroying them with conservative reasoning backed by tangibly known accomplishments.

If Donald continues as he did last night, he is likely o cut his margin way down, even possibly not only to lose the sessions of ill-moderated vociferous wrangling (debates?), but the election itself for lack of even common decency and manners.

It will not be forgotten that Joe kept dangling the phrase "Here's the deal . . .", perhaps twenty times, which Donald kept ignoring as a way to address Joe by showing that /joe was not offering a deal. Doubtless, Joe was coached by a phalanx of behavioral psychologists who were very aware of Donald's disruptive deportment with Hilary, back in 2016, which put her off her feed.

Last night, that kind of action did not work. Very clearly, Joe was able to maintain his composure inn the face of deliberately ncontrolled wrathful behavior. Joe may be a little crazy, but he has learned how to appear wise, fulfilling the Biblical counselling:

"Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding" (Proverbs 17:28 AV).

IMHO.

The 2nd debate is to be moderated by Steve Scully of C-SPAN. Scully once worked for Joe Biden.
