Does anyone remember that in the early to mid 80’s journalists were writing articles predicting that great numbers of people were going to die from the AIDS virus. In 1986, Donald Drake wrote in the Philadelphia Inquirer that 1 out of 5 people in Philadelphia was already infected with the AIDS virus and that 1 out of 7 people in Philadelphia would be dead from AIDS.

Today’s predictions about the Wuhan virus start to look the same. I know nobody or do I have any relatives who have Covid 19. Everybody I ask has like experience in that they also know nobody who has contracted it. This is very similar to the 1980’s in that regard. I realize that like the AIDS virus, there is a virus out there and it is somewhat serious. But whan I look at what the CDC said last week that the total number of people with no contributing factors who died from Covid 19 was less than ten thousand. it threw a new perspective into what is really going on. Also, the number of people who the media claims have gotten it and are back to healthy is large. Given this information, I am suddenly not so afraid of it. I’ll continue to wear the masks for awhile, but I’m not so scared, much like the furor the media had created with the AIDS virus.

Off topic, kind of, but speaking of dying, I was watching Channel 6 this morning, and they said people who had COVID, and had a higher zinc level (63), did far better than COVID patients who had a low zinc level (43). I’ve been taking zinc supplements myself, and you can also get it in certain foods like shell fish, beef, many nuts, and more (if you want to look up more foods). Most of the patients with the higher level of zinc lived, according to this report.

Of course, like anything, too much zinc can cause side effects.
