I believe their strategy is to provoke Trump to anger to show him as unstable. If his advisers were wise, tell him to keep his cool no matter what is said.

If Trump pounds the heck out of Biden, Biden could well use that to walk off the stage and be done with it...and any other debates.... stating that Trumps behavior isn't worthy of debating. Pelosi has already set that stage with her comments recently.

Biden would have the sympathy vote, media will see him as justified doing so, and the campaign will not have to be concerned if or not Biden can handle debates...they just won't do them.
