A new proposal could require Californians to work remotely three days a week - even after the COVID-19 pandemic - to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to aid in environmental efforts.
A number of Bay Area residents, including employees at large tech firms, were concerned over a new proposal approved by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission on Wednesday.
The controversial proposal would effectively ensure that sizable, office-based companies kept 60 per cent of their workers at home on any given workday to curb climate change.

I’m no fan of mandates, but working from home saves people a lot of time and money.
The type of job matters of course.
Yeah this is important , pay no attention to the rioters and looters, murder, rape and mayhem in the streets, the fires raging, the homeless living on your front lawn and in your hallways, the feces you step in when you step out, the businesses that have left town. Green house emissions is my top priority, a healthy considerate caring EMPTY TOWN full of drug addicts, homeless, the mentally ill and illegal invaders. A healthy environment for the unhealthy
You knew this was coming once they saw how compliant people were with the COVID “public health emergency”. Call “climate change” a “public health emergency” and use it to impose all sorts of anti-democratic and anti-liberty policies.
It’d be nice if companies would just do it without government mandates.
Otherwise I agree. If you can work from home, why not?
Agreed. I was offered a job in Philly, but they wanted me to go into Philly. There is absolutely no reason to be there in person, other than to have some manager eyeballing everyone.
I told them no thanks.
That would be 2 hours of commute everyday, parking, gas, vehicle wear and tear, 4% city tax, and being around Philly people 5 days a week.
> being around Philly people 5 days a week.
That would really be a deal killer by itself. Arent they seeing a huge crime spike?
Reference the Clean Air Act from decades ago. The same idea was there, but more rationally.
In the Atlanta area BellSouth funded a parking garage at the end of the Northeast MARTA line and also commissioned new space above the Lennox MARTA station to reduce worker commutes and comply with the act.
I have worked from (mostly) home since 1999. I prefer it.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
“Arent they seeing a huge crime spike?”
Sure are. Care to guess the demographic?
Traffic is terrible, parking is expensive, 4% tax for lazy inner city trash, gas, and opportunity cost.
I’m starting my own LLC.
Enough of making money for other people.
I have two words for everyone Zoom Stock. This trend makes sense from a time and money stand point. I agree keep the stinkin government out of it.
Wait until the workers figure out how disadvantaged they become when it comes to mentoring, advancement, gaining professional expertise
Ive argued this angle at work to continue wfh. We have greenies so this appeals to them.
It would have been nice to buy in February.
.... Once you let the Marxist in your home.... You’re doomed
Yep. Because there was no pushback, they own us forever. Major restrictions are coming to us all to fight climate change. As we have seen with Covid, about 1/2 of FR will support the climate change shutdowns too, just like they did for this low virulence virus.
When you have expertise, see how much faster you get done your work when you aren’t being pestered all day.
I’ve been busy reading Bill O’rielly’s “Killing the SS”. Jews knew they were being led to the slaughter. Polish farmers made signs telling them just that. Didn’t WANT to believe it. No Scott Beamans amongst them.
Poor California.
Should be the land of milk and honey. IIRC, used to be the fifth largest economy, if it was a separate country.
Tourism, beauty, agriculture, vineyards, Hollywood, Silicon Valley.
Slow death by suicide. Sad.
Yes but what about the youngsters coming up behind you? Where do they get expertise? How do they grow? How do they get up the ladder?
