Yup. There is always the chance that Trump will lose and I think nearly everyone will suddenly decide that the lame duck president should not be the one to put someone on the bench — the people have spoken, right?
But the current elected president and the current elected senate have every right — they have a constitutional duty — to put someone on the bench right now. Getting this done before the election is a no brainer. Absolutely no reason not to.

If the vote hasn’t taken place by the election the rat voters will crawl out of ever hole, basement and sewer grate. Nothing would energize the rat base more and Biden’s enthusiasm gap will no longer be a factor.
