The real problem is picking justices because of their perceived view on abortion. This misses the 2nd amendment and everything else. End of day, the court is not going to end abortion so it is wasted discussion. Ending gun rights, that is real.

The 2nd Amendment is where the rubber meets the road
Bork likely would have gotten a majority in Casey...that would be big. But there is good evidence that Bork may not have sided with the majority in Heller. If so, then not only would a SCOTUS Bork have been replaced by Obama, but perhaps he'd have gutted the palladium of the liberties of our republic.
I don't want to start a war over Abortion vs the Second Amendment. But in retrospect, getting "Borked" may not have been all that bad a thing.
