PHOENIX A Border Patrol agent shot and killed a suspect after officials said the agent was stabbed multiple times in southern Arizona on Monday night.
Roy Villareal, the head of the U.S. Border Patrol in southern Arizona, said in a tweet that the unnamed agent was "attacked and stabbed multiple times while on patrol near Nogales."
The statement within the tweet said the agent was patrolling on foot east of Nogales around 7 p.m. when they tried to arrest a group of people who the agent suspected were there illegally.
That's when the agent was allegedly "stabbed multiple times with a knife" by someone in the group, officials said.
The agent then shot and killed "his assailant," the statement read.
The agent was flown to a local hospital for treatment. Their condition was not immediately known.
The investigation is ongoing.
Shouldnt it be border agent allegedly shoots guy who allegedly stabbed them?
Riots happening soon.
Funny... I was thinking
Officer allegedly shoots perp who stabbed him...
My thoughts exactly!!
We just need more Social Workers with bouquets to police the border.
Prayers for the agent.
It’s interesting how one person did something, but the other person allegedly did something. No bias there.
Why didnt the officer allegedly shoot the perp who allegedly stabbed him?
I was told last night that he should be okay. Things can change but as of last night that was the information we were given.
Perhaps an agent FROM Southern Arizona got stabbed ?
Public school kids making all listeners to be like them.
Who are the “they” constantly being referred to? The story talks about AN agent, not a group. Bad writing AISI...SSZ
There were two agents working the group. The they is the two agents.
It’s amazing, isn’t it, that grammar seems to be a thing of the past. I get industrial safety reports from my company, stating things like “[a]n employee dropped a 300-lb retort on their right foot.” My sixth-grade teacher would have died of shame had I written such a monstrosity.
I guess that we’re trying to be non-sexist, but it comes at a cost of clarity (and I’ll be darned how identifying the agent as a he or a she is sexist).
The agent was either stabbed or he wasn’t, there’s nothing “alleged” about that.
Who are these “them” that the perp stabbed. Then the article says it was one guy.
Modern “Journalists”. Semi-literates and perverts.
It should be him, since the story identifies the perp as his assailant. Regardless, them is never syntactically correct when referring to a single person. Really pets my peeve...
Good shooting, Officer. Civilization thanks you! Good luck...get well soon.
You noticed it too. Good on ya.
Allegedly...... of course.....
The officer is in the hospital recovering from his alleged wounds.....
