Barbara Lagoa, a frontrunner for the open Supreme Court seat that President Donald Trump is pushing to fill, has made her conservative views known in business cases and disputes over the limits of executive power.
EX-FELONS RIGHT TO VOTE
This month, Lagoa joined the majority in a major ruling by the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals that upheld a law requiring people with past felony convictions to pay outstanding court fees, fines and restitution before regaining the right to vote.
PARKLAND MASSACRE FALLOUT
In January 2019, Floridas Republican Governor Ron DeSantis elevated Lagoa from an intermediate state court to the Florida Supreme Court.
Four months later, Lagoa handed DeSantis a high-profile win when she wrote a decision upholding his authority to suspend the sheriff of Floridas Broward County.
MINIMUM WAGE FIGHT
While on the Florida Supreme Court in 2019, Lagoa sided with business groups challenging a decision by the city of Miami Beach to raise its minimum wage.
The court said a 2003 state law that preempted all local minimum wage laws still prohibited higher local wages in Florida.

What I want to read from her are dissents. They are normally much more telling about her judicial philosophy. I read a really good one by Barrett concerning the 2nd Amendment today. Would like to see similar for Lagoa
I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing, either. Moderation, combined with her Cuban pedigree, would likely have her fighting both illegal ballots and Trump overreach in trying to throw out perfectly legal, honest ones.*
*By that state’s actual law.
She’s a lightweight.
Especially in comparison to ACB.
I see a lot about her agreeing with colleagues in winning decisions. And far too little about decisions she wrote which won colleagues to her side.
And as far as I can tell, she’s published nothing.
Here’s hoping ACB becomes the nominee to be confirmed.

She’s a lightweight.
Through and through.
She got where she is by Affirmative Action.
The right’s Sotomayor.
Does anybody have any 2nd Amendment information on Judge Lagoa? There are 2 types of “conservative” judges-—the old school Bush types that basically do whatever the Government wants them to do, and the more libertarian, pro-individual rights (like the the 2A) (and they don’t MAKE UP rights like abortion). I can’t find anything.
lmao.
Hearing today Lagoa is being pushed hard by Rubio camp, but WH isnt sold on her yet— Jack Posobiec 🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) September 20, 2020
I sensed something was amiss with her. No more ethnic minorities on the Court.
Too many positive mentions from MSM about out of no where Lagoa. Go with ACB Trump! Or Rushing or Gannt. This media push for Lagao is sinister. She might be good, but thats a MIGHT
Get it done with Barrett. The Laguna Hal has only a year in the bench. Enough to vote against her right there, imo
That sounds like good intel. I hope POTUS is looking the choices over very carefully. Barrett doesn’t thrill me, Lagoa has too many democrats in her inner circle. I’m waiting to hear his choice with bated breath.
Only a year? That is Damn scary. Makes me even more concerned with her Aligning with the dumb Latina. I just dont know if Mitch can get it done with Barrett the rinos are going to be hard to bring on board before the election and Barrett scares them.
I’m totally against her as the choice because of the overwhelming approval she received from the communists at confirmation...
and a big Trump supporter
DeSantis appointee, member of the pro-Second-Amendment Federalist Society... Looks good to me.
