On several occasions, a black person committed a crime, a police officer tried to arrest him, the suspect resisted arrest, and the officer was forced to kill him. This suggests to me that I should not break the law and not resist arrest. The woke crowd concludes that the police are murdering black people. We appear to be, but are not, content with this situation, so the woke crowd believes we are racist.
The woke crowd is putting pressure on us to believe we are a racist country. From 2016 to 2019, a few NFL players took a knee during the Star-Spangled Banner to say this country is racist. The pressure became so intense that the NFL now accommodates them. This year, the Black National Anthem is played before games. Most players either kneel or stay in the locker room during the real National Anthem. These players must believe that this country is racist. Since we are citizens, they must believe we are racist.
Almost all of them are millionaires. They worked hard at their profession and rose to the top. They are a typical American success story. They now get money and fame. We enjoy watching them play and contributing to their wealth. They should be grateful that they live in this country.
Instead of gratitude, the players are using their fame to call attention to their low opinion of the fans, their customers. The natural fan response is to boycott the games. Since the first kneeling by Colin Kaepernick in 2016, attendance and television ratings have gone down. In our first COVID-19 season, there are virtually no fans at the stadium. This decline will affect income.
The players will find that there is not enough money to support their large salaries.

I hope the market punishes the owners and players to the point that they “get woke” on the laws of supply and demand.
In the best of all worlds, they either go broke or learn that they are in the entertainment business and scolding your customers is not a sustainable business strategy.
I’m not sure why people are saying this about baseball..... I watch the Mets all the time and I don’t see any reference to BLM..... Maybe they did something on the 1st day of the season or right after Jacob Blake was shot.... But there’s nothing on a daily basis..... Besides, I’ve noticed over the last 10 years or so there are more and more white American players.... not as many a Hispanic players as there used to be..... and very few black American players..... So it’s not like the owners have to pander to a majority of Black players, nor do the White players have to worry about offending the black players..... so if baseball is showing any support for BLM, it’s pretty minimal....ESPN barely conceals it’s disdain for baseball, because it has so few black players and is not part of black ghetto culture..... So I’ve made a decision to cut baseball a little slack..... I love humble players who come up through the farm system like Jeff macneil..... He doesn’t strike me as someone who’s spending too much time worrying about social Justice....also there’s a lot of ex baseball players who are outspoken Republicans like Curt schilling, Alex Rodriguez, Mike Piazza.... You don’t have that in the NBA at all..... And there’s no baseball managers spouting off unsolicited left wing political views like Gregg popovich and Steve Kerr
To me, the key forecast will be the cost of the Superbowl Ads, especially if the teams are big market ones. These ads are, a bidding contest by placement, with the most expensive being the 1st Q and 1st H. Another key will be ads for new ad campaigns or new products. Lack of those will indicate an early lack of confidence in viewership.
I am thinking that Rush is happy now at the NFL’s denial of partnership purchase!
“I have to believe that their contracts with the sports leagues are now fixed dollar amounts and the networks will take the hit from fans walking away.”
Like you, I don’t know either but what I do strongly believe is if you are right and the networks under the current contract get no relief in the case of lost revenue, it will be the last time a contract of that type is negotiated. After all the networks had nothing to do with viewer numbers dropping because it happened due to actions of the NFL.
As TV viewership goes down, soon the advertisers will be demanding a reduction/adjustment in ad rates.
Exactly. The advertisers were promised a certain number of eyeballs.
Yes like the NBA where the players making over 3040 MILLION a year are calling the shots. But this making much less will be hurt, short term contract players and such.
What hurts me most really however is how they are treating the youth whom have worked hard to make it as a pro athlete. I love high school football, the NCAA and NFL is their dream for many... look at their dream now, a mess of despicable politics and a league which may not be as lucrative as it once was and one in which you will comply as they say or be not wanted.
the players are using their fame to call attention to their low opinion of the fans, their customers...
And we are showing our low opinion of them by walking away.
I honestly dont know (or care) who theyre playing today.
I have other things to do.
Two comments on this topic:
1. I cancelled my Direct TV Sunday ticket package which I think was about $300+/year. I am wondering how many others have done the same. I’d love to stop spending money with the sponsors of what has become a political “jam it down our throats” propaganda wing of the BLM and Antifa Marxist movement but since I’m not watching don’t know who the major sponsors are!
2. My dad was a local sportscaster (among other things like a Dentist, Basketball and Football official) and back in the late 60’s he did an interview with The Queen of the Roller Derby, Joanie Weston - she was GREAT !! So naturally, I became a big Roller Derby fan! It was his second best interview, second only to an interview with the most innovative, some called him crazy, Bill Veeck who at the time owned the St. Louis Browns baseball team.
“.if you were to re-start Roller Derby...”
They would soon go woke too. The SJW will not leave you alone until you knuckle under.
The lesson that the left has learned very well is - “terrorism” pays.
Long to see the buffed ‘super stars’ standing on the
street corners holding their sign stating: “Will work for
cash”.
How about hiring them to dig a ditch, a hole, or complete a re-roofing job?
Supply and demand.
Supply - many a ‘former’ to be found;
demand, not so much.
From ground level to apex, and back in 53 years.
The golden goose, an expensive substitute for turkey.
Walking the dog, working on stuff around the house, hell if my wife wants to watch 90 Day Fiance during a game I say go ahead!
What replaces it?

I just follow the scores online. Cancelled NFL Sunday ticket. Fan since the 60s.
These bozos dont realize, including Goodell that they should be in the communities they allegedly care about and not mixing society with sports.
The inclusion of names on helmets without equal, representations of police, victims shows that this is pandering due to racial numbers of players.
The end zone messages/alternate anthems a disgrace.
Maybe you suffer an well declined viewership and eventual destruction of your brand.
We will move on with our lives....
I think there’s no new stadium gravy train for a couple of years at least.
They’re still taking the knee, so not sure what’s the point. Changing one poison for another.
I haven’t been outraged by the kneeling. But the Pandemic pause has made me stand back and look at the game from a sudden new viewpoint.
I grew up in the 50s playing football in vacant lots with other kids and I adored the Detroit Lions. I tried out for the high school team but the coach said I was too small. I joined a group that played pickup games on Saturdays on high school fields.
I wasn’t any good at it, but it was fun.
The Pandemic Pause has made the modern state of the game starkly clear to me: nothing at all like the game I grew up loving. It slowly morphed away before my eyes. Instead of all-around players, we now have armored specialists. Paul Hornung led the NFL with 13 rushing touchdowns (in 12 games) in 1960. He also kicked 41 of 41 extra points and 15 field goals.
In the old days, a man might play a couple years in the NFL as a lark, like running away with the circus, and then get back to the realities of life. The late Supreme Court Justice Byron White, for instance, played three years in the NFL and led the league in rushing twice and was known as “Whizzer” White, and then got on with his life.
Now, suddenly, looking over the rubble of professional sports, I am no longer interested in the collisions of huge genetic outliers who are mere disposables, even if well paid pawns in the game of life.
Hey, there we go, the new name for the Redskins: the Washington Mongos!
The mature thing to do would have been to tell the players that, whatever their political or social positions, concerns, or feelings, their contracts do not permit them to damage the franchise by the actions PERIOD.
Whether the owners or teammates or management staff agree or disagree is irrelevant. No actions are to be taken which insult the fans/customers.
To the extent that any players DO damage the franchise, appropriate actions under each contract will be taken.
The pro-football player contracts certainly each have provisions/clauses regarding damage caused by behavior, professional or personal, to the franchise/club, league, and/or the sport itself.
I found a contract online (source: sec.gov) that contains the following language appearing to apply to the situation:
If at any time, in the sole judgement of Club, Players skill or performance has been unsatisfactory as compared with that of other players competing for positions on Clubs roster, or if Player has engaged in personal conduct reasonably judged by Club to adversely affect or reflect on Club, then Club may terminate this contract. He agrees to give his best efforts and loyalty to the Club, and to conduct himself on and off the field with appropriate recognition of the fact that the success of professional football depends largely on public respect for and approval of those associated with the game.
“Cops don’t hesitate to kill people. I should fight them”.
African proverb
50 % of the NFL are felons it’s no wonder they like to play the race card cover up is a easy game now days.
