“...but the networks have agreed to pay billions so long as the games are played.”
True enough but the networks get their money from advertisers based on viewer numbers and I would be amazed if there was not a clause in which a certain number of viewers are guaranteed with give backs by the networks if those numbers are not realized. If the networks have to give back to the advertisers then I am sure the NFL will get less than the original agreed amount from the networks.
The XFL will step in and fill the void. They will start generating more revenue and better talent. Baseball suffer the same fate.
In a free rational capitalist country, the consumer is king. The decisions and patterns of consumer demand influence the decisions of businessmen.
We used to watch Shirley Muldowny in Los Angeles as kids - boy were those fun days...
Yes, exactly. And boycotts can and do work.
Netflix cancellations surge following 'Cuties' backlash: RPT

I doubt it hurts the advertisers. They just walk away and find another avenue to reach their customers.
I feel sorry for the players that are conservative being lumped in with the woke jerks. It is kinda like being a conservative in California or New York.
Women’s roller derby... wrestling on wheels.
I loved it way back when, myself.
I’m not sure if it would hold my attention now, though.
As TV viewership goes down, soon the advertisers will be demanding a reduction/adjustment in ad rates. That is when NFL corporate will be impacted. That is also when TV network corporate will be hurting.
They can take a knee to BLM, but WE (viewers/former viewers) are the ‘product’ that corporate sells to advertisers. Fewer ‘product’, fewer $$$$$$.
I really don't know. I know the advertisers get compensated, because I hear about them getting extra ads for free (which lose paying slots for the networks) if ratings are low. That even happens if a championship game is St. Louis vs. Kansas City as opposed to NY vs. LA. If the networks do that, I have to believe that their contracts with the sports leagues are now fixed dollar amounts and the networks will take the hit from fans walking away.
Take the the logical step.
Rollerball!
Where is theBLM money going? I think the NFL should demand an answer.
Sadly for the NFL if that person wins re-election the anti-trust exemption goes away.
The tax paying citizens and tax paying illegal aliens should have to support the terrorist mouth pieces professional sports have become.
Supporting the NFL, NBA, MLB is akin to supporting Hezzbolah or Hamas. These people deserve ridicule and bullets.
They think America's racist- no the reality is these professional atheles have now become terrorist support groups - safe spaces to spout anti-American hate. People in professional are terrorists - sure some don't think they themselves are but supporting BLM is supporting a terror group.
Giving money to BLM is funding a terrorist group. When a group or people do that they themselves are also terrorists.
No more police protection at any events and security contractors need to be in a database so every police department can know who protects bloviating terrorists who know how to play an unnecessary game.
When the above starts to permeate the mind of most getting stadium money is going to be the least of their concerns.
Roller Derby
I LUVed Roller Derby. One of our 3 available OTA TV channels showed games back in the 70s. It didn’t have much of a following and eventually merged with Roller Games. Roller Games was little more than a staged entertainment venue and didn’t last beyond a couple of seasons.
Joanie Weston, the Blond Bomber.
One of the Fox sports channels is currently running some of the old Roller Games events. The Thunderbirds always seemed to win, no matter how many points behind they were in the final minutes.
Possibly, my FRiend.
Another thought is why not make all NFL merch socially toxic?
Anyone who wears NFL (and NBA and MLB) merch? The new social lepers.

I think the XFL went belly up recently.
I watched football for 40 yrs.
It was a good run.
Now it’s done.
