Great quote from article:
When I ask Biden campaign staffers and Democratic Party officials how many people they have on the ground in Michigan, one reply stuck out: What do you mean by on the ground?’
LOL...so it depends on what the definition of ground is?
Sounds good but while the troops on the ground may be missing Biden’s ads are everywhere. He is clearly going for the Trump voters who backed Barky. His ads are all over nostalgia TV like METV, H&I, Charge, Comet. Since the two conventions the Dems have raised 2x the $$ as Trump and the GOP. I have not yet seen a Trump ad and there are reports of ad buys being pulled in Mich, Wisconsin, and Pa. I do not think this is positive news.
Yeah, I caught that one too. It tells me that the Dem pros have been sidelined in favor of people who apparently don't know how politics works in the United States. Trump, for all the media bitching to the contrary, is a very conventional politician running a very traditional campaign - rallies, lots of patriotic optics, and a knack of rising over hostile media that he's developed to a high art over four years of furious resistance. To them it seems uncanny, which suggests to me that the old pros in the media have given way to a new generation with all the passion and none of the savvy.
And worse, Trump's side appears to understand electronic media better than the Dems. One look at the optics of the Dem campaign to this point reminds me of people encountering the Internet for the first time and who think it's all about home room meetings and porn. The Dem convention was laughable. The debates - well, certain FReepers whose opinions I respect suggested yesterday that that Town Hall was as close as we're going to get, with ABC staffers taking the place of the hapless Gropin' Joe. It isn't going to work for them that way. No air game, so to speak, to match no ground game. Seven weeks to go.
