Agreed. The prevailing winds seem to be that we are incarcerating too many for too long.
I would like proportionate sentencing. Also I prefer death penalty or restitution, which in some cases would take many years of labor, as
opposed to just sitting there. If you don’t want to work off your debt then I suppose you can just sit there.
But I am glad Biden supported the 1994 crime bill and I think drug use and especially dealing is a Vice crime which begets lots more crime and is not victimless. I think three strikes you’re out is magnanimous - in order to be caught and convicted of three felonies you are a habitual criminal and deserve to stay in prison. You have probably committed hundreds or more felonies if you’ve been caught and convicted for three.
So I am leery of too much of the prison reform and Kamala being maligned for being a tough prosecutor. That’s not her problem!!
And I think that blacks are more in prison because they commit more crime. We have black police, DAs, defense attorneys, judges, and juries now. It’s not racism.
On May 8 Paul and Lidia Marino were executed while visiting their son's grav by a black thug.
On May 16 80 year old Rosalie Cook was stabbed to death by a black thug who was out on bond despite 69 previous arrests.
On May 25 59 year old Leslie Baker was shot and killed in her driveway.
3 black teens have been arrested.
No demonstrations, no calls for justice, no reporting aside from local news.

We need work farms and boot camps administered and staffed by prior combat servicemen. They tend to deal with training-related stress better and are not, on average, as vindictive as employees who were lifelong civilians (including police) or non-combat prior service members (no disrespect intended).
Well run work farms and boot camps would be the only way that I know of to clean the drugs and drug culture out of the inmates.
I received information from former drill sergeants and former combat soldiers who worked at a boot camp for violent juvenile offenders. Lifelong civilians eventually corrupted the institution. Not saying that they were evil, but they didn’t have backgrounds that were good for that kind of work. The frustrations got to them too easily, and they didn’t like to run and PT at sunrise with the inmates.
Corrections officers from prisons would be a definite no-go for that kind of institution, by the way. Don’t even think about that. We don’t need more criminal colleges like the prisons.
And remember Abu Ghraib and the backgrounds of those who worked there. That was a definite no-go. Prisons should not be playgrounds for sodomites and sexually confused women.
