Madden NFL 2021 is adding Colin Kaepernick, who remains an unsigned free agent after he started protesting police brutality as a San Francisco 49er in 2016 by kneeling during the national anthem, as a quarterback option in the latest version of the popular video game.
Colin Kaepernick is one of the top free agents in football and a starting-caliber quarterback. The team at EA SPORTS, along with millions of Madden NFL fans, want to see him back in our game, the company said in a tweeted statement.
Knowing that our EA Sports experiences are platforms for players to create, we want to make Madden NFL a place that reflects Colin's position and talent, rates him as a starting QB, and empowers our fans to express their hopes for the future of football, it added.
The company also acknowledged its own decision to remove Kaepernicks name from rapper Big Seans verse on the song Big Bank on the soundtrack of Madden '19. At the time, Big Sean blasted the creators of Madden over the decision, and the EA later apologized.
Weve had a long relationship with Colin through Madden NFL and worked through our past soundtrack mistakes, Madden said in its statement Tuesday.

And those ratings were before the Krapperdink announcement. Adding him is supposed to save the franchise. Ha!
I hope he gets in the game and leads the other players in BURNING THE AMERICAN FLAG during the Anthem.
Pick him as QB then have your entire front line take a knee “in support”.
But is he wearing pig socks?
If you need someone to throw a lot of interceptions, he’s your man.
in the 21 fersion no one actually plays football
Is there a button allowing the fans in the stands to walk out of the stadium every time Kaepernick steps on the field?
She would at least throw less interceptions.
Which actual quarterbacks did they remove? If they didn’t, who cares?
How do they figure out his stats, do they just assume he’s as bad as he was in his last year, or do they go back to when he was a good quarterback? Do they do that with their other players, because I’d love to be able to play with the Doug Williams from the 1988 superbowl.
Can I play with the George Plimpton from “Paper Lion”?
BTW, I find it impossible to believe that, if he showed ANY signs of being able to play at a top level, that at least ONE crappy team wouldn’t have hired him, and hyped the heck out of him, to draw TV support and maybe actually win a superbowl.
Teams hate controversy, but nowadays the controversy to them is on the other side, and yet they STILL don’t hire a guy who supposedly is super-bowl caliber? Not buying it for a minute.
If he was then he'd have been signed and starting years ago.
You know he is tied for the 4th best intercept record, with Tom Brady and Russell Wilson? IN his last season, he threw 4 interceptions, I’ve seen quarterbacks do that in one game. His previous year, his worst (2015), he threw 5, and the prior year he threw 10.
So he might not be a good quarterback anymore, but even after his injuries, he was good at not throwing the ball to opposing teams.
To contrast, the three quarterbacks for the Redskins last year threw 13 interceptions.
Make believe foobtall?
Can they put Nancy Pelosi in there too? She’s be as good as he was, and she has better hair.
What about an overweight transgendered flea-bitten Caucasian who self identifies as a kitchen appliance?
Everyone needs to be represented.
Put him on your team and you’ll go 1-11 all season.
I don’t know why they added a second rate, over-the-hill QB to the game. Nobody that wants to win games will pick him up.
How long before Madden adds a female player or two. Start with a kicker of course. Claim millions of players want a female to play in the NFL. Gets crazier from there. Yeah there is nothing that SJW tyrants won’t destroy
